  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Ohlins shock hose thread

Can anyone tell me what thread Ohlins use for the hoses on the vintage remote twinshocks? i think it could be 1/8 BSPT but i am not 100% sure. It does not appear to be 1/8 NPT which is what the schrader valve in the cap is. I need to get some hose made but i prefer to have them with black covering and the spring covering on the top of that.
Thanks

The hose end fittings are BSPT,Goodridge has the hose and fittings you need, hose ends are Goodridge #323

Ok thanks. i found a couple fittings today i was pretty sure were BSPT in my stash of things and tested them and they screwed in ok and now Groutys post above confirms that. I already got the Goodridge catalogue downloaded so will have a look in there. What seres Goodridge hose do you recommend? I do want the SS braided type but i think they do an option to get a black casing on the outside. if i want coil spring on top of that i may have to send it to Goodridge or who ever will make the hose and request them to fit it before crimping the ends on.

Not sure what the 2011 issue was?

sorry, in 2011 year threads in vintage left kickers..there was a thread on Ohlins hose fittings...I couldn't be bothered looking for the link so I thought you might flick back through....but you have the answer so on we go...

Ok i never thought of winding the spring on after. Looked at the Goodridge hose and it seems a little small on OD. Is that what everyone is using these days?

I would say you need something like -4 hose (4.8mm id). Probably 600-04 (Goodridge number). They do a high pressure swaged end to suit. You would need to get them or an agent to assemble them. They also do a Kevlar braided line that is more abrasion resistant. Then wind the spring over the top of that.
