As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.
When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.
Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.
Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.
Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.
Thanks for your patience and support!
I'm sure you've got a dremel...
Or make a small aluminum or SS badge to bolt over the top of it using the two bolts on each side, if you're that worried about it...
But they're big and heavy and the same price as a full Ti kit :-PShould´ve got the Arriows. They´re approved for road use.
Not approved for street or off road in the USA. I had them and returned them to the dealer. I wish they had a spark arrestor and some marking of being USFS Approved. No dice on either. Nice set up thoughShould´ve got the Arriows. They´re approved for road use.

But, go on a Forest Service road and they'll care. I got stopped on my 610 last summer. Ranger knew exactly what to look for. But, he admitted he didn't care about emissions stuff...just valid tags and a spark arrestor. And he knew all about different spark arrestor types. Said he busted a guy on a KTM who had gutted the vortex-style spark arrestor those cans have. You can't tell from the outside, but you can tell if you shine a flashlight down the tailpipe.I'll take them :P Nobody in SC really cares about DOT approval... For example, my stock cans are gutted, perforated-core flow-throughs...

My 630 is an SMS, so probably not too many fire roads in it's future![]()

But, I've never heard of a motorcyclist getting a fixit ticket for emissions hardware alterations. Cops out here have better things to worry about and don't really care.
I'm not sure if the Arrow pipes are physically different here in the states than the ones you get in Europe. I have heard how loud the pipes are and find it hard to believe they could be legal in Europe. I thought Europe's sound decibel levels are stricter then the USA? Anyway, they are not stamped with a USFS approval and are not equipped with a spark arrestor. I asked my dealer to contact their Husky rep and explain my concerns regarding legality in the state of Connecticut where I live Waiting on a reply from Husky is worse than watching paint dry so I said screw it, order up the Arrow pipes and I'll deal with the details later. I figured since the pipes are in the Husky special parts catalog and are intended for a 50 state street legal motorcycle I'd be fine. Well...lesson learned for me, never assume anything. The rep said the pipes are not intended for on road or off road use in the states. They do NOT offer a spark arrestor insert for the TE/ SMS630 Arrow pipes either. However, the do offer a spark arrestor insert that fits the Arrow pipes for other models, for instance the TE511. Great...I said, am I supposed to drive around in my yard with a thousand dollar set up?? I don't think so. Back to the dealer they went in exchange for some Leo slip-ons and a store credit. The Leo's are equipped with a spark arrestor and USFS marking which is good enough for where I ride.My twin Arrows are Titanium, weight loss (according to Husky sales literature) is three pounds (1.5 Kilos) and they´re Husky stamped as alternative original equipment and are therefore street legal in Europe. So, are the Arrows sold in the U.S. different (not titanium, not street legal etc?).
