  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

250-500cc No Sparky WR 250

A friend of mine stopped by with his 07' WR 250 because he could not get it started. After doing some basic diognostics we found that it was not getting any spark. I started working backwards through the system and was not able to get any electrical readings from the two blue wires from the stator (sky blue, medium blue wires). The yellow lighting coil was producing sn AC current.

Any known electrical issues with this model/year.
Also does anyone know where I could find an owners manual or an electrical and mechanical spec sheet.

search the TT 4t forum for "manual" and you will find a few places to download a free workshop one. It is the same ignition used by KTM and I have never heard of any typical issues. I do know the stock plug cap is junk but it sounds like you have already worked past it.

Could it be something has stupid as the kill switch is grounding out?

Oh yeah, the stock kill switch is not the best. I've replaced them on both my Huskys. Just unplug for trouble shooting.

No Sparky yet. When trouble shooting I did take the kill switch out of the loop.
Thanks for the link to the 125's electrical issues. Sounds pretty close to what I have going on with this bike, low voltage from the lighting coil, no voltage from the primary ignition.
I will report back when it is cured.
