  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

No power to fuel system?

Experiencing new problem with the 2010 TE 310. After washing recently I started the bike to dry everything out, bike started but had no lights or dash. A few days later it wouldn't even start. Electric starter would turn but no fuel pump priming. Battery voltage just under 13v.

Found the no lights problem to be a rubbed through wire, now fixed. I dismantled everything to inspect the remainder of wiring and no more rubbed through or broken wires.

I noticed the Jd tuner wasn't lighting up so it seems there is no power to the fuel system at all. After simply turning the ignition on and off a few times I got power and the pump primed and the bike ran 100% perfectly. Not sure what is going on.

((EDIT) I disconnected the JD tuner, but didn't put the fix down to this at that stage)

My '09 TE 450 used to do the same thing, I had to jiggle the key until it would prime. I ran contact cleaner through the key switch and then filled the key switch with dielectric grease, it has not done that in a year or so. If you can get the pump to prime by jiggling the key (assuming you have a key switch) maybe its that simple.

My mate said a similar thing actually he said the barrel probably has multiple contacts for each accessory, I.e. starter, fuel system, lights etc rather than just 1 circuit. I'll give it a go cheers.

Sorry for bumping the old thread, but the source of the problem was the JD tuner. No idea what went wrong as it wasn't physically damaged. Confirmed the JD as the offender by connecting and disconnecting a few times and testing the systems.

Don't know if water got in it or something but it made a click when the ignition was switched on and that was it. It was reliable until recently.
