  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

No low fuel indication

Husqvarna
C Class
Hey all,

Ran out of fuel the other day because my low fuel light never came on. I have also lost speedo reading, I have checked the reader to the front wheel with a CRO and seems to be working correcly. Where do I start looking?

Thanks

I dunno, but I have the exact same symptoms.

My Reserve light comes on with the key. All the fuses are intact. The Speedo has backlight, etc.
Mines a 08 610. I'm fixin to look in the pump, but I'm reluctant because of the speedo.

I will pull the pump out on the weekend to check the wiring and what not. But just to clarify, the display still reads just hasn't got the speed it stays at 0.

Pull the pump and see what you find. Might be a broken wire on the level sensor and/or a loose fuel pump. Make sure you tug up on the fuel pump to make sure it's secure, not just look at it.

For the instrument display, disconnect the battery for half an hour or so and see if that helps. I've read that this glitch (no speed indication) and removing power so it resets is often a solution.

I've already tried the batt reset thing. This is a bit different because on mine the ODO is not incrementing. I do think the res light/speedo dead is interrelated.

No clue what kind of bike we are talking about here- but my 2010 250TXC has a low fuel level LED that has a mind of its own. One tank it works, the next it does not. When it does work it has MAYBE a liter of fuel in it- might as well be the "your screwed" light IMO. I watch the mileage on my TrailTech Vapor and start making plans to mootch or ditch with 60 miles showing.

check fuses, the three under the seat. might be chafing on the wires. fix them and keep an eye on them as my husky almost burnt down from this in baja this year.

Fuses are all good.

I checked the wiring diag. The reading from the front wheel goes straight into the display. I'm thinking there's either a problem with the display unit (Mine has had water in it once before, but its a coated board) or its somewhere in the wiring to the reader down at the front wheel. I suspect the fuel light is another problem but it also goes to the display.

OK, Well I took my fuel pump out, and the good news is that I figured out why my reserve light is not working.

The bad news is that I have no idea how to fix it.

Husky does not sell the components of the pump, it looks like the sensor is stamped leonelli but It's kinda hard to read.

I found this page:http://www.leonelli.com/english/aforadores.htm

but it's kinda sparse and no way to order...

Anyone know where I can get a new one or suggest the best way to fix this one?

Nice find, hopefully thats all that is wrong with mine. It looks like its just a support rod to hold it out to give you the reserve reading. I'm thinking it would be easy to make something up.

Not starting trouble here but if cases like this are not reaching headquarters the problems are not seen or heard of.

Dealers are the first link but if it stops there future conditions will remain.. Just a thought

Ran into the same situation, no low fuel light. Ran out coming home, hit a gas station and the tank was full @ 1.39 gallons.
Thanks for the pics, now I know what to look for!

It's the support, and also part of the circuit, the screw that mounts at the break also attaches a connector that provides neg power to the sensor.

Kinda toying with the idea of changing the length a little to give myself more than 20 miles reserve...

Well, I Called the dealer, dealer said they only sell the whole pump, there it died. I wouldn't expect the dealer to run it up the ladder to husky unless it happened quite often.

It looks like something can be made to fix that. But, if it not a wide spread problem, I doubt headquarters give a crap.

On the bright side, at least you know what is wrong now.:applause: Maybe a piece of welding rod with the flux removed would fit the bill for size then find a press to crush the flat spots for mounting. Probably something out there that might hold up better?

how far do you stuff the fuel nozzle in the tank when filling? that may have cracked it.
