• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Yep, it was epic. :applause:

My friend Ben grabbed my camera and took a bunch of pictures. He also wrote an article about it.

Here is a few bits I wrote down about my day...

Some of the people I talked to after the event may remember my comment about feeling like someone hit my forearm with a hammer about 30 miles into the event...:bonk: I had been having problems when riding my Husky with my hands locking up and not being able to let go of the bars to release the throttle or grab the brake or clutch. It was a major issue at the Spark Plug, I believe it has something to do with the bar bend. That was part of the reason I chose to ride the old WR, to see if it was a bike setup issue or a me issue. I was disappointed to find my right forearm starting to hurt badly before the 1st gas stop. I massaged it when we would stop to try to get the kink out but that only seemed to make it worse... :foul: It wasn't affecting my grip or anything so I rode on with a right forearm that hurt and a left grip that was spinning on the bars.:ride: I managed to get a respectable finish thanks to my "Mac" enduro computer and headed home to rest my aching arm. Ice and Ibuprofen didn't help the swelling by bed time. I was still mad about being such a wuss and didn't think much of the hives that had developed on my leg before nodding off...

Once I looked at my arm this morning it was painfully obvious that I had been bitten by some sort of insect, probably a bee a couple inches up on my forearm. Nice big round welt... That "massaging" I was doing yesterday worked that poison in nice and deep... :busted:

Enough rambling from me...

A few more of Bens pictures from yesterday. Between photo stops Ben took a big branch to the arm and it gave him a nasty cut.:banghead: I will refrain from posting that picture.

Later,

:D I used to ride in Shelton and I rode with the "Pissers" as Puget Sound Enduro Riders called themselves. Ah more warm and fuzzy memories.:p Thanks for the photos.

Thanks for sharing the link, Jake  Ben e-mailed me the link and I really enjoyed his story and photos. He just wrote another one for the Golden Spike Hare Scrambles, too.

My friend raced the enduro. He's 16 and just moved up to the A class this year after winning his class (B200) the last 2 years. He rode his brand new KTM 250XC for the first time and finished 5th in Open A and 15th overall. I'm pretty proud of him  His dad Tim was quoted in Ben's story, too.

Thanks that place is ffffffing beautiful (sorry for the cuss). I used to live on Whidbey Is. and street biked only,,,those trails look epic. Glad you all had a good one. dust and more dust for us now.

Shelton is epic to ride at. This is not an open to the public riding area so no one really has much of an advantage over anyone else by knowing the trails. Also each year that I ride it the club introduces us to even more amazing terrain and trails
Jake and I rode on the same minute and Jake won his class:thumbsup::thumbsup: He is using an older Mc Enduro computer:lol: Still works O.K

:D Yep, I won my class at an enduro without a odometer, clock, or roll chart... :busted:

My strategy goes something like this... See Scott follow Scott, don't see Scott, ride faster until I see Scott again. Seemed to work okay accept for the not seeing Scott part, he hauls the mail.

Later,

That stuff looks like so much fun. Here in the so ca desert we get very little rain so
that is why i do the Nationals at least we get into the trees if we travel 700 miles to
Utha .Guest where i am going this weeken round 5 in the trees of Utha

About 200 miles to the east of shelton it looks like this.

The top photo is the Eddiville track in Goldendale WA. This is an 8 to 10 mile loop. There are two over there. The other one is 14 to 22 mile loop.

2nd photo is Mattawa in central WA.

Great photo, Kelly! I was there that day! I can almost spot my van between the 2 monster Class A motorhomes that put the squeeze on me. It's the one with the CA license plate :D

I loved that place.

I raced the OMRA opener at Eddieville back in March. Per my GPS it was 51.1 miles and I was in motion for 2hrs 38mins. I'm sure there's an easy formula to figure out average lap time, but I'm too tired to think about figuring it out.

Depending on the event the track will change configurations. On the day I raced there was an addition 3 miles incorporated into the course, including a few grass sections, a rocky ridge and the ever popular snotty logs

Love that track! And the people whom own it are class acts.

Yeah I am disappointed that I am going to miss that one, sounds like my kind of event.

Later,

Weber was at the webfoot and the riders did enjoy an old school enduro. The winning score overall was a 7 and only a few more under 10. Lots of scores from 10 to 100 !
