• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Hi there... So after having way too much air in the tyres from the dealer the bike is riding ok...

Had heart failure tonight when I came home to find a small puddle of green goo under the bike, turned out to be filter oil dripping out of the airbox, sorted now...

Anyway, to the issue... Its a supermoto... Ah was expectin a bit of poke, havin to watch my throttle aplication, a light front end... Ha... It accelerates like its just smoked a joint and its never going to get the front wheel off the deck, serious its like it just cant be arsed...

There must be a quick fix, some setting thats just not right, it cant be meant to be like this...

Oh and whats with the Casio LCD screen, FFS man, the little petrol guage thats actually a tacho only goes just a bit over half way up... Think mah bikes broke...

Cheers...

Yeah, the tach is useless, but once you're used to the bike, you'll never look at it.

Start at the top and work down as you feel the need.

Make sure the restrictor plate in the airbox, behind the filter, is removed.
If you haven't done the PowerUp, do that. It just replaces the O2 sensor with a resistor and plugs the port in the midpipe.
Then buy a JD tuner, which will let you play with fueling. Even after the power-up, these bikes are still lean and jerky down low. This will make it a different bike.
Check the threads around here for the recommended settings.
Replace the factory mufflers, they're very restrictive. Or gut them like I did and turn them into flow-throughs.

If you want to go further, find a TE ECU, the throttle response is snappier.
Swap on a 14tooth front sprocket.

Just remember, these things don't have the short SMR swing arm, so they're not as much of a wheelie monster as the SMR 450/510.

Jd tuner and TE ecu.

Do this, I did and my bike is far from tame now. It still wont power wheelie in second, but it will clutch up.

I've got a stock exhaust, PU kit, JD Jetting Tuner, and the TE ECU. Still trying to tune the JD Tuner to get the "bubbles" out of my throttle, other than that it's great. Love the bike to death.

He put it better than I ever could

You need to learn a little bounce and jerk and save the clutch and gears. ;)
I'll still clutch it up when I'm being lazy, but I can give a little jerk with a throttle blip and get it up in 2nd.

I did that earlier today, I didn't really consider it a wheelie though since the front wheel maybe came off the ground an inch or two. Remember, I'm 100 pounds lighter than you are ;) it would take me quite a bit more effort to power up in second, I don't have a lot of weight to throw around lol.

Gotta start eating better!!

Yea, ahv seen the vids, hell ah rode dirtbikes when ah was younger but that was a few years back... Ok, it was more than a few... It just seems so much harder than ah remember but then a was ridin a YZ250 so yea... Anyway, mah weekend run was good fun, ah can see the bike comin to me now so its just a matter of time... Cheers all...
