• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

New Year's 8 Hour Team Race

ARod2000

Husqvarna
AA Class
Hey guys, I'm putting on a team race the first week in January. I'm actually doing it with another guy, my best-good race buddy Jeremy. He did this with someone else two years ago and had almost 400 racers turn out. That was his first shot at putting on a race. Needless to say, it was quite successful. We've already got Parts Unlimited on board, we've talked to Gerald at Upstate and he's in contact with team Husky and believes there's a good shot at Glenn Kearny coming. We're talking to other pro teams as well and hope to get many of the big names. It's on some good land and will include planted pines, hardwoods, creek bottoms, grass track and woods MX course.

So what do my CH buds say? Anyone gonna make it?

It is a little far for me, and I don't race, so the best of luck and have fun! Let me know if there is anything you need from me from a forum point of view.

I'd definitely put it on the Cafe Husky calender with a link to this thread or other web site you may have set up.

 Yeah, it's a little bit of a drive. BUT, I will say the last time my partner put on a team race he had people come from Nevada, Kansas, Ohio and Massachusetts.....not to mention all from over the southeast. I'm thinking people up north don't have too many options for racing in January.

We're aiming big with this one. And we're going to have a WEC style grass track/obstacle course.

Well if you are really trying to go *big* then you may want to draw the attention of people whose season starts the following weekend in Anaheim CA.

I'm sure there are other forums where they hang out. It is a long shot, but if they don't know about it then they certainly cannot sign up.

Ehhhhh....Yeah, I think their sponsors may frown upon doing an offroad event. It's pretty rare to see those guys at an event like this. However, Davi Millsaps is from GA, maybe I'll see if we can get in touch with his people. :)

Certainly have the wheels turning in my head! I should be cleared to ride and I have (gasp) a fresh KX500 that would be perfect to Ironman it with! I don't wanna load that many hours on my Husky ya know!

We plan on being there for moral support and maybe we'll even bring a new 2010 250 with us to play with.

Update: We received news of our first confirmed pros today - Thad Duvall, Ryan Belue and Randy Hawkins are in:applause:

We have several sponsors lined up and are firming up all of them now. Among the bigger names for sponsors Lowe's (yes that Lowe's) is providing all of the material for the WEC style obstacle course. Parts Unlimited is onboard, Moose Racing is in, ProLine KTM is our main shop sponsor and is contributing a significant amount towards the purse:thumbsup:........what else.....for now that's all I can put out there. We have many others in the works - all of whom you will know and probably have their gear or something of theirs on your bike:thumbsup:

We're aiming big:D I will have the race flyer out soon. Just getting approval to use logo's now. So hopefully in the next day or two I'll have it out.
