  • Hi everyone,

    As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

    When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

    Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

    Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

    Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Hello gang,

I am looking to renew my Husky relationship after separation with my TE510 and interested in 2 stroke.
My local dealer has what seems like a good deal on what's listed as 2014 WR300 with street legal package.

when I look at husky website and on the picture from dealership (halls cycle is the same way) I see completely different bike that's listed as 2014 model.. so the question is, what am i missing?

is there 2014 WR300 and than newer version ?

I also plan to do do Sumo kit on it as it can be street legal bike, what's a reasonable speed can the bike achieve?

Your link goes to an Italian built 2014 WR300, soon to be disappear. The KTM built Wr300's won't be out till January as told to me by my local dealer.
 
The only WR300's are the red Italian built Huskies. The white ones are TE300 and are KTMs or what would have been Husabergs. As far as riding it on the street, I'll let others chime in who do, I personally wouldn't want to ride the red one on the street for very long. The Italian Husky has a 5 speed transmission and no starter where as the KTM version is a 6 speed and has a starter.
 
I went from a TE510 to a WR300 and I've never been happier or faster. I use mine for off road stuff only though.

is lack of e-starter and 5 speed gear box huge consideration? How much does it really matter?

can some one chime in on WR300 top speed? in supermoto trim? assuming somewhat optimal gearing..
 
Cant speak for supermoto trim/top speeds but I would say the estart would be something youd miss in a tight/technical spot when it stalls or if you race hare scrambles(dead start). I race in the PA/NJ ECEA events and I have never felt a need for a 6th gear.
 
Top speed is probably 100 mph.

If you're asking about top speed, the WR300 isn't the right supermoto bike for you.

thanks guys! stopped at dealer today.. they are steering me towards TE 310 or TE250 and away from WR300..price wise WR300 is about $1k US cheaper..decisions decisions decisions..

Why in the world would they steer you away from the wr300? They are amazing bikes

1. dealer # 1 has 3 TE310 in stock steers me towards TE
2. dealer # 2 has new WR300 in stock.. and TE310 and offers test ride on mini track they have behind the shop
3. dealer #1 claimed that Street Legality of WR300 is questionable and that they heard of cases when Title and registration was issued, but at later date, state demanded surrender of plates...

I dont really believe that.. but in NJ..anything is possible..

I had two WRs tagged in NJ without issues
 
I ride desert and have mine geared 14 X 47 and am VERY happy. Raced a cr450x and he just tip toed away on the very top so I'm assuming 90mph'ish. And 1st is still plenty low for what I do.

Questionable in NJ, well maybe, but what ever the reason, the Husqvarna WR model line after year 2006 is listed on the "Official List" of motorcycles that can be registered and titled in the State of NJ. search for the list on the MVC website, you WILL see it listed. I believe it all has to do with that little grey sticker that is on the back of the front fender.

And my 2 cents, I would NOT use my WR300 as a street bike, even with streetable 17" tires on it.
 
street riding is not requirement, but super moto races are crazy fun! also, there is a need to ride for few miles to the trails and back.
