  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

New to me TE 250, PLease help ID what's not stock, and give advice on possible mods/fixes.

Hi everybody! I just got a "new to me" 2008 TE 250 with 1200miles and I have a few questions that I hope you experienced Husky owners can answer. I am moving up from a Kawasaki KLX250s, and feel like I am starting all over with the whole mod process. I've been reading and searching around on here, but I still have a few questions.
Do I need to worry about the fuel pump coming loose on this bike? I read some on that but I'm not sure it that is a TE 250 issue or not.
Anybody have a favorite skid-plate? I'd really like one that covers the frame all the way underneath the bike. I slide over a lot of logs, and don't want to beat the frame up.
The Racing Solutions http://www.driveonit.com/120511/Husqvarna-TE-250-Skid-plate looks nice, and I see Enduro Engineering makes one too. I have found a few others but haven't found any that have a very clear view of more than one view of the plate. One of the members on here made the nicest one I found, but I think it was just basically a one off thing. ??

That's nice!
Any feedback on the skidplates is appreciated.

Here is the 2008 TE 250 I just picked up from a buddy. He bought it at Halls last fall and never rode it.
What can you experts tell me from looking at the pics? Is the muffler stock? I think the radiator shrouds are for the wrong year. Halls put some new ones on to sell it.
Thanks for any info you can post up!

Oh yeah, is the brake line suppose to be pointing up like that?

The Up-tite skid plate looks nice but with the swiss cheese treatment they give it, I'm worried it might not hold up to my thrashing.??
Ricochet, Touratech, Moose all also look like they make a skidplate. thoughts on these? Couldnt find a skidplate by Motosportz for the TE250.
Thanks again.
Dan

Arrow muffler is sort of stock, it's the OEM aftermarket muffler for Husky, like its the PowerUp muffler that Husky chose. It's OK, don't try to repack it, lotta work involved in that.

Thanks OHR, I knew something was up with that muffler since it has the H etched into the tip.

Rode it today at the club grounds where I'm a member. Nice tight woods trails :D. The bike seemed really twitchy off idle. I'd barely twist the throttle coming off of idle and it shot right up. Like it went from 0 throttle to half throttle instantly. Felt like riding a two stroke. ??
Maybe it's just because I'm not used to the bike, I'll get used to it.

Nice trails, yeah, it's a race bike, so it's gonna wanna go fast, I tend to use alot of slipping clutch to smooth my bike's power delivery to a sane level.
