  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

New to me 04 TE510

Hey new to the site and looking for info..... I just picked up a used 04 TE 510 its been used but looked after the previous owner had everything in the engine replaced (lower end bearings rod bearings piston and new SS valves). I was wondering do the newer 510s share a lot of the same parts? Like body work or how about the clutch plates? I was looking to get a Rekluse possibly but not sure they make one anymore .

The engine was obsensively the same until the efi came out in 08 and the 449/511 complete change in 11.
Parts will be readily available. The bikes are strong performers and are great on sand and fire trails. I had an 05 510 and loved the brute. Do the regular maintenance and it will look after you.
Put in an iridium plug for quicker firing up especially in the cold

Good to know....I ordered some new lights and blinkers going to get a plate put on the bike here soon. I was planning on using the bike for mostly single track and tight woods riding but Ill need a plate to connect the trails in some places

There's a lot of parts interchangeability between models (a huge amount if you're used to Japanese bikes!). Husqvarna Outlet have parts fiches for download so you can compare part numbers for different models. For instance, the '04 shares bodywork with some of the older 2-strokes, but the '05-'07 bodywork will fit (and I find the ergonomics a bit better as I'm no racer), if you swap the seat and tank too.

Welcome to the gang, btw!

Same plates yes, but tge baskets are different. The teeth on tge back are a different pitch. So you would need to change the big starter gear too. Or at least the gear on the starter clutch. There's all kinds of small differences. Inner clutch cover gasket is different slightly, hell the primary trans shaft is a different length. But it all can be changed easily

So this is looking to be a costly install if I do go forward not only the Rekluse (650$) but also additional parts as well
