  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

New to Huskies

i am 115kg plus gear. i had my Suspension done by Chads Offroad Set up in Geelong VIC. He also travels around the Country to do Set ups. And i have to say he did an amazing Job.
With the Burns , i burned my leg too at the first ride. I called R&D Husky. www.husky.com for a Header pipe guard. Installed that and no more burns.
I used to have risers in, but took em out and find it much better without them. i am 6"4 , but i do have a Flex Bar from Faast Company installed with a 10` KTm bend.
Radiator braces from 7602. The force ones bend to easy on the 511.511.jpegtcairbox.jpg
Stegpegs fitted and moved further out with Spacers.
FMF Powercore Installed with Akropovic Setting. Airbox lid opened up to a TC airbox. Now i am absolutely happy with it.......

Ok guys, so any advice on springs? On the racetech site, using their spring rate calculator I came up with the following....

Rider weight: 130kg
Riding Type: Desert / Enduro / Trail
Age: Standard Age - Up to 44
Skill Level: Dirt Novice / Beginner / C Class
Height: Standard Height
Gas Tank: Standard Gas Tank

Recommended Fork Spring Rate: 0.556 kg/mm (use closest available) which would be a
RT FRK SPR 44.0x460mm .54kg

Recommended Shock Spring Rate: 6.777 kg/mm (use closest available) which would be a
RT SHK SPR 63.4x60.6x270 6.4kg

I've heard people mention progressive springs... Please, tell me more.
Any other ideas or advice guys?

Cheers!

Nice, I like the look of that heat sheild and the bars look good too. Thanks for the tips.

The force ones bend to easy on the 511.

I disagree.... Had my wheel fall into a deep rut (to the top of the wheel deep) on some single track last weekend, with me over the bars and the rear of the bike following me. My bike swung around and over landing 180 deg from the direction i was moving landing on the radiator (GPS said at 32Km/h). No bends, just a few scratches on the plastics. I was sure that the way it hit would have damaged the rads, but they didn't even move.

yeh ive had no dramas with the 2 sets of force rad guards on my bikes & had some pretty epic get offs I can tell ya!

G'day guys has anyone tryed or know how to change the map setting back to standard? mmm just to try if it makes any difference in some of the area I ride. At present I run a pro circuit exhaust and made a big difference on race map 11. Next where do I get a map switch.

Ok... P3 header pipe gaurd ordered, Force Radiator gaurds / braces ordered, 25mm bar risers ordered. Looking at hand gaurds, matching exhuast gaurd, skid plate from P3 too. Just need to be patient as I have a mortgage and 2 kids too!

The #1 thing I want to fix up though is the springs. Still confused about the size springs I need to go for, mainly the rear. I'm reading that the CTS makes a big difference to things and that racetech don't account for this in their recommendations, (see my earlier post for what the racetech site says). So any more info would be great.

Impatiently waiting for shops to open back up after the Xmas, New Years break to get some action happening in the spring department.

Cheers.

you could have Ordered the 7602 Braces and the Skidplate from Richochet and saved some Dollars... Much cheaper then Force and P3 here in Australia, even when u put on top the shipping.
