  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

New throttle body tech advancement

I am sure a lot of you have been following the APT carb thread on the two stroke forum. Improved and smoother power especilly mid to low. I was just reading the latest MXA and they had a article about a company called R & D that has developed a throttle body insert that improves the low to mid power by as much as 50% on the 4 stroke. Only $1500.00.
Have any of you tried it ?

I would really question those results before parting with my hard earned. If you said 5% or maybe 10% I would think "interesting". Anup to 50% increase is too grandiose to accept. Note: happy to be wrong here.

I've tried $1500.00 before ... 2.18 monthly house payments when I was in the states and even now with a weak $, 15.4 monthly rent payments in Cebu today. Just to keep this in any light ... 12 months in a yr ... And all my Huskies are running well today without that thing you are referring to ...

This isn't me but it is my bike ... See how high it flies as a stocker?

The improvements were in the low to mid where stock bikes are the weakest. The article was backed up by dyno a rider input. There was also a 2 to 3lb increase in torque. About the only difference between the R & D and the oem is that the R & D uses a slide instead of a butterfly. I just find it interesting that with all the tech and expertise available at the factory level that the aftermarket guys are the ones that are developing the most significant advancements. I am sure that just like the APT that cost will come down sharply as they hit the market

Its really cool that the same device H. Ford was using a century (?) ago is finally being 'really improved' and is finally being really updated ... Think of all the < HP we have been not been enjoying our entire life on all these crap CARB bikes ( Except Huskies of course) ... Maybe that new fangled efi stuff is causing a heart beat in the CARB world ... :oldman: ... This seems like a good place for grandpappy ...

Send one to Motosportz for testing, OK?
