• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

New terra 650 or txc 511?

There's a dealer by me with a terra and 511. Each $6500. On the verge of selling my street bike. Currently have a wr300 for trails. Wanted an "adventure bike." the 511 is closer to my dirt roots but the 650 seems more versatile and longer lasting. I am leaning towards 511 but Definitely wanted to be able to use whatever bike for misc errands from time to time on local roads. And no I can't afford both-lol. My ktm friends think I am crazy and lecture the crap out of me about parts can't be found, value will be worthless, no aftermarket stuff etc. Thoughts?

First, your KTM friends are the crazy ones lol.

If you're leaning towards the 511, get it. You really need to decide if street or dirt is more important and how far you'd like to comfortably go. There isn't anyone here that's going to be able to help you lol.

If it were me I'd probably go with the Terra more because I, like you, I already have a bike that's offroad ready. I'd be looking for a "practical" bike to add to the stable. Then again I'd probably be buying the Terra even as a second bike because the TC449 would be a hard sell to my wife because they seem the same to her :)

Having owned both they are totally different bikes. The TR650 is a light weight adventure bike and can hammer out a lot of miles exploring roads and EZ stuff. The TXC511 is a dirt bike. I use my TE511 for dualsport sometimes but by DS I mean mostly off road. You need to decide what you want. The TR650 is a great replacement for a streetbike and lets you explore the gravel roads and such much more. If you want to hammer out 200 mile days exploring get the 650. If you want to have a nice 4 stroke dirt bike that you can do some street on get the 511. the 511 seems somewhat overpriced.

Only other question is..the 650. It's basically a bmw 650 with unique plastics right? So plent of crossover parts for years to come I would assume?

No, I doubt many parts interchange.
Can you tear yours apart and report back? :)

From what I understand it's the BMW engine but they squeezed quite a bit more power from it. I have no clue where they got the power though. So I'd imagine if you needed a complete engine rebuild you could essentially downgrade your motor.

I really wouldn't be concerned about it. I bet that motor can go way longer then you'll care to own it. You've chosen two really reliable bikes.

Hi cafehusky members
This is my first post ever, so please be gentle with me.
I have just got myself a 2013 TXC511 and a HST diagnositc tool. The HST software asks for a password and the manual say to email service.tool@husqvarna-motorcycles.com for the password but the email keeps bouncing back and there are no email addresses in the new Husqvarna-motorcycles.com contact page.
Can anyone help with a password?

The engines and internals have a lot in common, but everything else is Husky....but a lot of that is common too.. shocks, forks, brakes, etc come from suppliers.
