  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

New Temp Sensor Installed: Now What?

Townzer

Husqvarna
AA Class
'08 TE 510 does not want to idle, it stalls immediately. Will run if you keep giving it gas, but crappie. Did some research here and decided it might be the temp sensor giving wrong readings to the EFI. New one installed and did not correct issue. Any suggestions? It starts easy, just runs terrible. Cleaned the air filter too. Thanks for the help.

No water or wash. Ran good one day, not so good the next. What is the best way to check the intake boot? Gas is good and it has 8200 miles on it.

What is the best way to check the intake boot?

Get it running, keep it idling revving, steady, spray some carb cleaner or brake cleaner around the intake boot near the head, if you hear the revs changing, like it's sucking in some of the spray, you have an intake leak.

Okay, I charged the battery, replaced the sparkplug and fuel filter and checked the intake boot. Then I decided to take it out and see if riding it would clear it out, since none of that seemed to help. I made it three miles and it died like it ran out of gas and would not start. The fuel tank was full. I am thinking fuel pump or maybe injector. I hear the fuel pump operating, but maybe it is not pumping fuel. I will check this weekend.

When it dies, it's important to cycle the key switch from off to on to off to on, and listen to the fuel pump priming. Does it sound the same as when the bike is cold? Does it sound labored or slower?

Pull the fuel pump assembly and make sure all the hose connections are tight and the wire connections are tight.

I currently have a similar issue. I replaced my lambda resistor and it Possibly fixed my issue. I will update later because i just did it last night. . If it is powered up plug in your o2 sensor and see if it makes any difference. I was getting a sel2 and fail light only. Also look for broken or chaffed green and red wire on that resistor. Older husky ( above) knows his stuff.

The lambda senser was taken out by the dealer before I even picked it up. Don't think it is the tank vent because I checked the tank when it stopped and cycled the key a few times. I could hear the fuel pump run, but it did not sound like it was building pressure now that I think about it. I will pull it out this morning and test it. How much do new pumps go for?

Anyone try one of these yet?

I think the CAcycleWorks pump was on back order for awhile.

The pump won't really build any pressure, there is a pressure regulator in the tank that bleeds off all but 42 pounds, you should hear a nice steady priming sound when the key is turned on or the kill button is set to ON, the sound should always sound the same no matter how hot or cold the bike is.

Sounds like your bike is powered up so the o2 sensor is out. They put the lambda resistor in so the bike knows to go into sel1 or race mode. My resistor was bad. When I cycled my key I would never see sel1. I only got sel2 or fail.

Did you by chance leave something in the air box during the filter cleaning? What about the fuel filter? Starts fine but does it stumble upon acceleration? Has the pump been secured in the tank with an extra zip tie?

I took the filter back out and checked. I did zip tie the fuel pump and it has a new fuel filter, installed since the trouble began. It did start fine, just would not idle and was lacking power. Then it just died like it ran out of gas and now will not start. Could the pressure regulator in the tank be bad? And can they be replaced? If it bleeds off all the pressure that would cause my lack of fuel.

I thought my pressure regulator was bad at one time, I got a test kit from an auto parts place (borrowed it) hooked it up and got 50 psi from the pump and 43 psi from the final tap. The pressure regulator in these bikes if a simple spring door and is not prone to fail.
