• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

New Te630 Owner, Let The Farkles Begin... :)

DYNOBOB

Husqvarna
Pro Class
Hi all. Just joined the forum and thought I'd check in. I made a 18 hr run to/from Missouri last week and picked up a new '11 TE630. I think it was one of the last ones out there. The 630 was somewhat on my radar, but ran across the ADV thread earlier in the week and decided I'd better try to find one. What a shame they've quit making this bike! It seems to be the closest you can come to the holy grail of serious off road capability, durability, and a truly streetable bike.

I'm pretty new to dual sporting, bought a '09 KLX250s last Sept and rode the TAT through TN in Oct. I'll mainly be using the 630 for day/multi-day trips on TAT type trails where I'll street it to and from the truck. Hoping to get to CO/UT or Alaska someday. I love my KLX's light weight and durability but want mo power :).

The TE will be getting a TCI windshield and luggage rack system, Barkbusters, gps wiring, lowered slightly, skidplate, driving lights, sweetcheeks, etc. I love to see pics of what you guys have done to your bikes and will try to give a little back.

Just off the trailer...

My KLX...

First project was some homemade led driving lights (I'm too cheap to buy Denali's). Removed the halogen guts of some old lights I had and put in 9w MR16 led bulbs. Keeps the watts freed up for the heated jacket and hopefully decreases the chance of someone pulling out in front of me.

Welcome Bob from a native Buckeye. I was born and raised nearby in Hamiltucky, haha Is the Golden Lamb still in Lebanon? Are you old enough to remember the Cash Amburgy's Bargain Barn in Sooouuth Lebanon commercials?

Your lights look good. I bought a set of Ebay 10W LED's that I will be mounting the same way. Just need to install my Safari tank first to make sure there is no conflict when forks turned full lock.

Egads! what is a Husqvarna owner doing with a Stihl chainsaw? Don't tell me you own a KTM also?

Hamiltucky, that's close to Middletucky.:) Where's home now? Yep, Golden Lamb is still here, my friend was the chef there for 33yrs and still loves to butcher my deer. I'm 44...can vaguely remember the Bargain Barn ads on WLW.

I'm curious to know if the Safari has different clearance to the forks...give me an update. BTW, my lights clear by a mile.

No orange cool-aid around here but I do have a chainsaw problem. That little guy is a 32" 066 magnum.;)

Enjoy the new bike but don't forget your breather hose where it enters the back side of the air box.. they are known to pop out and allow dirty air in behind the air filter and into the engine. Here is one solution to mitigate the issue.

Welcome Bob, you'll love the bike, they're awesome.

What vehicle do you have hidden there under the covers, with the white wall tyres?

Like the lights by the way.

Please tell us more about the lights! I'm looking for a cheap light option for aux led driving/spot lights for my 610.

I've been all over the past 30+ years since escaping OH. Currently home is just outside Houston,TX

My LED lights are bigger than yours. With stock tank they just barely clear tank shrouds using upper fork pinch bolts as the mounting point. I think I'll need to fabricate a standoff bracket to use the same mount location with the Safari tank. Tank will go on at next valve adjustment in a couple weeks. I'll be sure and post back here my findings.

Here is what I bought. Not cheap but not as expensive as others that are that much or more for a single light. These lights are crazy bright and very well made.

Nice find. Never saw those in my ebay search... Look a lot like the Denali D1.

I already had the fixtures and led bulbs (I do outdoor lighting) so I'm nothing out of pocket. They draw so little power I wired them into the running light above the headlight. @1lunger, If you have some old lights see if you can retrofit them to led MR16 bulbs. Do a google search, the bulbs cost $25-$30ea. Here's a set I made for my KLX. Different housing, same concept. On these I wrapped rubber foam weatherstrip around the bulbs and slid them in.

Wiring them in that way means they will be powered up while the key is on and also when electric starter is cranking. I'm tapping into the headlight so lights will only be powered once the engine has started. Especially for me since I'm not using an on/off switch. LED's on with low beams and off with high beams. I can always run high beams during the day if I don't want the LED's on. But the extra lights even during the day can help get you noticed.

I want them on w/ the parking light for ease of coming/going in a dark garage/trailer. Keep in mind they're drawing about 1 amp. I also want them on with high and low beams. I always run high beams during the day, figure stack the deck in my favor...

Mine are actually 12 volt/9watt bulbs (wrong box in pic). I can tell you from my KLX, they don't throw an extreme amount of light at night (not focused enough). I'm more concerned about conspicuity on the street. Will rarely ride this bike after dark.

Whitewalls belong to the '47 Super Clipper.
