  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Hey guys, new member with a new bike. I just got home with a 2011 te449 and I have a few questions as my dealer didn't seem to know much.

Should I have gotten a plug for the oxygen sensor bung in the header? I thought I read somewhere that there is a different map I can load into the bike, and that I would need to remove the o2 sensor as well as a part in the exhaust. I did search, but didn't find much that helped.

Does anyone know if a Rekluse will be available for these bikes?

Is anyone using a carbon fiber pipe guard? The header looks like it wants to burn me, and then get dented.

thanks, Todd

Burnham, Welcome. Whereabout are you located?

You should have a small jumper plug that inserts into an open jumper under the front of the seat just ahead of the battery, this is the power up plug. As for the pipe bung, I think that is a dealer 'option', but most dealers stock or you can get one at an autoparts store as they are the same as many car O2 threads.

P2 (Pirie) makes a nice header pipe guard but they tend to be slow on delivery. http://billshusky.com is Salem Oregon has a couple in stock and no doubt would be happy to mail ship you one. Give em a call and ask for Bryon or Don. But buy one before you become the next victim of the 'pants on fire' crew... :)

burnham from NEDB? I got a bunch of goodies with my 2011 TE 310. I bought mine from Wagner Motorsports in Worcester MA. They didn't know much about the line either but I did get a good deal out the door and the bike was ready when I wanted so i'll give them a thumbs up:thumbsup:. I received a 2GB thumb drive with some additional setup maintenance info on it. A second airfilter and unrestricted cage for that filter, a second chain and larger sproket, a set of wimpy hand guards the plug for the exhaust header as well as the insert for the exhaust and a Husky Key Chain.

Hopefully your dealer just forgot to give you yours but I would give them a call and get it sorted out!

as for your o2 sensor question, you dont get a header plug for it.one is avail but you dont need it.if the bike has been powered up the o2 sensor is not active and wiill not affect the performance.did you power the bike up?dan

The Race Map II jumper should come with the bike free of charge. The O2 sensor plug cost me. Many have told you really don't need to remove the sensor, though. I did. Get the header pipe covered with something, or you'll burn the heck out of whatever contacts it. I wrapped mine, which was cheap and effective, but expect to get the P3 eventually.

I also found the bike needs new tires and a suspension tune. Saving for an FMF Power Core 4 and will consider the JD tuner, if the muffler doesn't give the snap I want.

Enjoy the bike.

Another new TE449 owner here too...thanks for the straight forward answer on the O2 sensor Dan! Now, off to find a heat shield...lol

Thanks guys.
I am Burnham from NEDB, I'm located in Massachusetts.
I have not powered the bike up yet, I'm probably going to send the suspension out before I ride the bike much.

hey burnham, glad you made your way over here  this place is full of great members + info.

hope you enjoy the new ride!

When you power up the 449 , there is a dash indicator that comes up Race Mode.
Where did you get the bike?

Thanks guys.

Also know that from what I have been told your warranty goes from 6 months to 90 days once the map II is installed...FYI

I got the bike at Armands in Halifax MA. I didn't know about the warranty being that short, they told me it had a year warranty when I picked the bike up. I probably won't power it up for a while, I have a list of things I want to do to the bike over the winter.

Hi I'm from the UK and bought my bike in November, Love the bike overall but found the suspension too soft and have increased both rebound and compression on the fork and shock. My bike was supplied with the O2 sensor bung fitted and the sensor itself in a box along with the larger road exhaust. It also comes with the the akrapovic can as standard and race map 2 setting. And a 2yr Warranty.
I need to cover the front pipe as I 've already burnt 3 holes in my brand new lindstand GI pants, is there a cover that can be fitted as I can't find any here in the UK.

Yes, from these guys: https://pirieperfprod.com/
Touratech also makes one here: http://www.touratech-usa.com/Store/951/PN-410-5070/Exhaust-Manifold-Guard-Husqvarna-TE-449

And welcome to the burned pants club! It's a right of passage.

Hello Tuddy121, i'm also from the UK. The exhaust guard i purchased was for a Beta trials bike clicky: http://www.trialsuk.co.uk/products/exhaust-shield-to-suit-beta-or-sherco

The front forks on your TE449 are set of soft trail riding. The springs i believe are 4.0nm, but check with Husky Sport. Depending on how much you weigh you may want to go up one level to a 4.2nm or even 4.4nm - they are very easy to fit and you shouldn't have to remove the forks from the bike. I've fitted a set of TC449 forks with 4.4nm springs these are CC forks yours are OC. The rear spring may also be a little soft and the bike pitches forward towards the forks. I've had my rear shock shortened by 4mm like the 2012 bikes. Have the forks flush with the top of the yokes and try stiffer springs on the front first its the cheapest option. Or speak to a suspension specialist like HM Racing _ he set my bike up.

Has anyone been in contact with Rekluse yet? I haven't been able to find any information on a clutch kit for these bikes, just wondering if they're working on something or if it's a lost cause.

Also, can someone tell me what is up with having to wait for moderator approval before a post is made?

Burnham, if you decide to remove the o2 sensor the bolt is a simple replacement, you don't need to hunt one from your dealer. It's an oil drain plug, 12x1.25 off the shelf at autozone or similar store. Mine was $2.99 and installed it Saturday. Since there was talk on here of damaging the o2 sensor if you leave it in unpowered, I took it out.

thanks guys. so I took the bike out yesterday for a 50 mile street ride, went home and installed the jumper, and went back out for another 10 miles. It was fun and I like the bike so far, but I would like some more power. I would like to be able to lift the front a lot easier.
Beyond changing the muffler, has anyone changed the header? Who makes one for the TE? (not looking for a $2k full system)

Spoke to Rekluse today - no clutches for 2011 Te 449s and at this point it seems no plans to manufacture them. Anyone know of any other decent auto clutch options for 2011s?
