  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

New TE310r Low Top End Power/Misfire

Picked up my 14' TE310R last night and went for a spin. Low and mid range power was great then it revved up and hesitated. Its like it doesn't want to rev all the way up and misfires then if you hold the throttle open long enough it will finally rev all the way. Only put 15 miles on so far, is this an issue of it not being broken in? Or maybe the dealer put 87 in it? Any advice would be great.

Doing research, I am seeing that I may need to remap due to the bike being detuned to pass emissions. It definitely needs a "wake up" my 10 year old txr300 quad has more balls. Im wondering if I need to buy the map switch and where to do so? Does that just wire in and that's it, no interface with computer or anything required?

Don't know about 14's but my 13 with power up has no map switch per dealer tech.

I don't think I need it either. Im pretty sure my dealer doesn't know much about these Huskys. They never told me about any "power up" and I am learning about all the stock performance issues by research and firsthand. The dealer did tell me when I called that they can't sell the map switch in CA, I'm wondering if thats the case with the whole power up kit. Trying to decide what I want to try to do myself or have them do before the warranty expires. I would at least like to have it remapped, if they will do it. Maybe do air filter frame change and cat removal myself. How much did the power up run you?

The map switch that can be fitted to the stock ECU is supposed to detune the bike for more torque and less power in slippery conditions.
This isn't the way for more power!! It can be fitted without other modifications. Check out the wiring diagrams for the pin connections.

Dont know where to start.. they shouldnt sell the bikes in the trim theyre in to pass regulation. Look up "power up" or similar in the search bar.
Generally to make them run normally you need to
- decat the exhaust
- remap the ecu
- replace the air intake cage
- remove throttle stop
- get rid of the "stock" gearing to something closer to factory spec. Eg 13:50

On the red head 310/250 you dont have to remove the exhaust lamaba sensor, but coluld be wrong. It might stop your dealer from giving you warranty, but im my opinion its not worth riding when its all corked up.

The ECU needs a reflash to the leo vince open exhaust setting andd the airbox needs to be converted to the TXC or modified if you are comfortable doing it yourself. There is a cat converter inside the mid pipe at the header joint that also needs to come out. Do that and braaaaap! O2 sensor(lamda) stays in.

Thanks for the responses everyone. That is what I was looking to hear. Does anyone know if remapping voids the warranty?

A miss fire or hesitation can also be a loose battery connection. Put a wrench on the battery terminals and double check them. (2014 may be a little different as they can run with a dead battery and 2012 can not) but it is worth checking them out anyway.

Good call Mifasto, checked it out and everything looked good. Im gonna put some hours on it and get it remapped if it won't void warranty. Also take out CAT and put in TXC air filter frame and see if that fixes it.

This is probably arguable, but I reckon running the bike all corked up and lean is worse for the engine than uncorked. In Australia powering up didnt tend to void the warranty, that is because the dealers actually ride the bikes they sell!

6 months but I hear ya. I dont know if I can go that long with the current set up.

Are you sure about the six month on a 2014? I was told that the 6 month warranty stopped in 2013 and was replaced with a 30 day. Either way, getting the bike to run properly shouldn't void the warranty. If anything, leaving it in the horribly lean stock setting may cause damage.

They told me 180 days at pick up. I'll check it out. Trying to get them to remap it for free but no one will call me back SMH
