  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

also I`m planning on chain the sprockets but I'm not sure about what is best I use the bike in the highway and also in the dirt so I would like about 100mph on highway. right now I don't now my speed lol. I'm looking for suggestions in this topic.

thanks in advance

Congrats on your new bike Andres. I love my TE310 but it is no good for highway use in my opinion.

With stock 13/40 gearing, you would be doing approx. 10,000 rpm at 100mph which is simply not sustainable. And... 13/40 gearing is not ideal for dirt.

I use 13/50 and it is great in the dirt but my TOP speed is approx. 80mph

great thx for the replay

You could try 13 front and 45 rear.. Though the most realistic sustainable mph would probably be 50-60mph..

I've got the same gearing, but I must not be flogging it enough. The way it screams at 60mph I feel bad about pushing it any harder, and generally stay down between 45-50mph. 50mph is about 7,500 RPM on my bike.

the normal use will be 80mph I just dont want to push it to much that is way I mention 100mph

any suggests on the speedo?

If your 'normal use will be 80mph' on a 310 - you will be replacing parts much sooner then later. Why not just get a bike built for highway speeds? Even a 449/511 would have trouble sustaining those speeds if it's geared anywhere near dirt use.

great bikes but not miracle rides

13/45 is functional if you are mostly a fire road guy. It does give you reasonable 60mph at 7200 hi way speeds.

13/40 was doable but not fun.

80 or 100....get a 610 and up

Same here on my 2012. With the 50in. The rear it is great for most dirt applications, but I find that the most comfortable cruising speed is around 100kph/62mph. You can get up to 80, but will be really feeling it on knobbies and winding it out. No one setup works for everything. This bike is best for short stints of roads linking to the trails.

It would be cool to have a second set of wheels with some supermoto tires and the 40 in the rearfor road play.

Have run!

thx a lot for the tips, right now is working for me when looking for trails but I dont know how fast I'm going hehe, I dont spend to much time on highways just when I'm on my way to trip trails so the top speed doesn't matter, 60mph is ok on a trip.

thanks again

I should have added... I've only wound it out to 80mph once and probably was there for a mere 5 seconds.

Trail Tech Vector is used by many people. I put them on our 511 and 310 and they work very nice. Easy to see, nice set of measurements ,including speed, temp, rpm, distance, time, etc.
