• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

New soft seat foam

I have noticed that when other people get new dirtbikes, they start adding all kinds of important upgrades to their machines, to personalized it to their own tastes and riding habits. I see graphics, suspension, exhaust pipes, pegs, bars, engine mods, skid plates, etc., but I don't think that I have seen anybody add a soft seat to their bike.

Maybe I'm just old, but after the suspension, a soft saddle foam is the most important thing I can put on my bike in terms of safety and comfort. I used have a KDX220 with a nice soft OEM seat, that I could switch off to the next time around, after a butt pounding day in the saddle on my WR300. But when I sold the 220 to make room for the new WR125, my cushy tushy options were diminished. Not even the plushest suspension setup can make up for a nice soft saddle. As far as I'm concerned, the saddle is my last inch or so of suspension travel, reserved for my hiney. Now, both of my WRs are sporting the soft foam treatment, and what a difference it makes for a day's trail riding experience.

Nice seats. Doin battle right now with a Seat Concepts seat. Seems like the front part has alot of extra material. Is this normal?
After a failed attempt at snow-boarding last year and still suffering a sore butt, I broke down and got the wider seat. I have to agree that our aging suspensions need plusher saddles.

i am in agreement about soft seats

Looked at Guts site and see that the foam comes in various firmness: soft, med, firm. I assume you went with the soft version? Wonder how that feels compared to the Med.

Very nice looking cover.

You're so right on your hiney ... Ya gotta take care of the hiney, if not you, then who will?

Really nice DD.

I have a Guts on my 125 and Seat Concepts on three other bikes. They are all better than stock.
SC gets my overall vote though.:)

one of our crew uses soft foam to maintain standard seat height for lite on the seat riding but gets him @ 1in lower when he really needs to crunch in

Very nice looking cover.
The soft version is the only type I have ever ordered, so I have no idea what any of the others are like.

medium kinda like Japanese OEM MX foams, Hard like Euro seat foams, Soft like what DD uses!!!
Call Guts and ask, they are very helpful Ive used them on and off since the early 90s.

Seat concepts on my 07. One fine/comfortable seat. The new cr125 seams to have a slightly softer foam than the 07 did, it was like a wedge shape cement block!

I just installed a Seat Concepts kit on my TE511. It's great. Easy to do, and feels way better than the stock seat.

Going to see if I can get an even softer foam for this. I'll remove the cover and install even softer foam and see how that works out. I have to try everything out before I'm happy.

How did you get the red accent in the gripper material? Mine is just like yours but I have a cheap looking smooth red vinyl and it's not grippy.

You'll notice that the 300 has the old style red vinyl trim. That seat got done in 2009 or so, for my 07 TE450 (now sharing it on the 300), but the 125 got the latest update in material that Guts is using these days.

Of course my riding buddies tell me to stand the whole time and not sit. Better technique and control.

Screw them lol

Depends on terrain/rider preference. One of the first things taught to me riding tech singletrack was to stand all the time. If you get used to it, you will see their point.

Just my opinion, it helps for the terrain around here. I feel its a great technique to adopt.

A comfy seat doesn't hurt anything though. :)
