  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

New rim suggestions

My te 449 has excel rims . The front rim has 2 small dents in it and is starting to crack. .when I was a teenager I had a lot of dirt bikes and rode really hard and never had to replace a rim . This bike has 250 miles on it and already needs a new rim . Any suggestions of a durable rim from off road riding. The size is 21 x160

Excel is supposed to be the Gold standard. Of course there are different models, I'd give a place like Dubya a call or Epic Motorsports in Colorado a call. Epic deals with a ton of wheel sets even for Supermoto. Good luck

Excel is an excellent rim. If the rims are dented, I would guess they could crack, I would just buy another excel,
1st I have heard of defective rims on the 449/511. Rims are designed for impact on bottoms, not tops.

I'm wondering if it is a defective weld . The crack is on the side of the rim . I can see a line which is the bead of weld going across the entire width of the rim to the other side. The crack is on the bead itself . I'm going to call excel on Monday

I have seen the same weld break before on a standard Excel rim before..It was replaced by Excel.. I bout a set of A60 Excel rims with rad hubs many years ago for my CRF 450 and put over a 150hrs of Moto on them with no issues.. Still round and no major dings.
