• Husqvarna Motorcycles Made In Sweden - About 1988 and older

  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Hey all, I've got a Husky that I've been working on for the past few months gathering parts and such. Currently though, I'm not so sure what the bike is. The frame number is 842251951h cp25300 at first I was told its 430. But the frame number looked like that of a 250. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Here's a picture. I have the rest of the plastics if it would help.

How about engine size? The jug is gray with a blue top plate. bottom end is black. Had an ngk br8es plug in it if that helps.

The other thing I find odd looking at all the pictures between 86 an 88 is the rear spring was I think originally yellow. Mine is blue. I was thinking that somone swapped or had it powdercoated but with how tatered it looks it could've been original.

The frame number would indicate a 1987 430CR. The engine number should start with 2171

it's an 87 cr250 as far as I can tell. I have a blue spring on my shock & it's heavier wt. than yellow. What is the number on the engine. Left side by the kicker. Does the rear brake back plate have a long "stay" arm to anchor it or does it slide onto a block on the inside of the swingarm.?

1614574 is the only number I can find. Its on the jug right at the intake tube flange. Says made in Sweden below it. I found the one by the kicker starts 2094 rest is obscured by black powder coat or really good paint. Also. It appears to have a six speed gearbox.

Rear brake stay. I'm gonna go with its supposed to be a long arm.

I see 2094 listed for 1984 250 & 1984 500 engines. The brake is definatly a cr & that brake stay is home made. Looks like it might be a mix of years...not sure if the 1984 500's were liquid cooled. I'm pretty sure they did make 250 liquid cooled in 84.

Hmm. Interesting. You guys are great with information that's for sure. Any definitive way to figure the engine size based on looks or attachments or bolts or anything?

84 was dual shock and totally different bodywork. Its a 87 or 88 I think.

I'm sure there is.......might take a little time & others to chime in. Do some searching on here...most of this stuff has been covered before. I'm not the expert...just know my bike which is similar frame (mines a WR) with 430 motor.

That's cool, but that means it's a WR or a XC not a CR engine, unless someone changed it. The 6 speed will fit in a 5 speed case & vice versa but the cases need to be split to do it. You can go to halls website to see parts manuals for all huskys..it's a little confusing until to find your way aroundhttp://www.halls-cycles.com/default.asp?page=catalogs.

The frame is an 87 for sure but its a parts bike from the looks of it
When I get home I will post a picture of an 87 CR 250
It should have an early power valve
All the 80's engines will fit the frame 84 to 88 were liquid cooled and yours is that just which
Look by the kick starter for 2 4 digit numbers
CP on the steering head is a CR by the brake should be the mount for the brake backing plate link
The forks on an 87 CR should be White Power inverted
