• Husqvarna Motorcycles Made In Sweden - About 1988 and older

  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Thanks

He knew what he had as he saved it, he found the motor at bike wreckers and then found the frame and tank and put them back together.
He had it about 10 years.
Rebuilt the top end and shocks, it was a rider.
Cost me 2500.

I picked up my '84 500CR for $800, but condition not closely comparable to what you have nor does mine compare in terms of collectability/limited production.

This was a solid amount to pay for a rare bike thats ready to ride I think.

got some good deals over the last year.

86 400 XC was $500 ran but beat down, now current bush bike
86 400 XC #2 running and all good but tired looking $900 then sold disc front end for $300 (friends resto 84 500 XC) the rest is for parts now
75 360 CR $1500 I use for vintage MX fun
87 250 WR $1700 mint barely used bike, needed some plastic and seat cover now a dual sport street bike
and the best for last in my collection a rare highly desired old Husky, the 82

There were only 500-ish of these 82.5's. Just be glad you got one! As for the $$$, wait and see how much you need to spend to get her where you want her. Mine was less than that but it needs everything. We may end up about the same!

I want to make it a very nice looking rider, not a High dollar over the top resto.

I found a kick stand and spring, did the full out redo on it.

Duplicolor engine paint with clear.

Got a side cover coming for the right side, wrong one was on the bike or something the mounting hole did not line up to the frame.
Did the yellow back ground.

I need to rip it right down but just not done looking at it yet.

I know what you mean... I parked mine in a "display spot" in my shop and just looked at it for about 2 years!! Be glad your kickstand bracket is in good shape. Mine's torn up. I'm in the process of having my machinist friend repro a better bracket. Strong Like Bull!

Aint the stands a b@tch. i had to reman from scratch. used a bit of heavy square tube to make the holder and then hammer flattened a pipe for the stand. Then i cut it too short and then the angle was wrong. will make a new stand shortly to get the length right!?!. Face it i'm not a good machinist at the best of times (Butcher is a better description!!)

HWY makes some really nice Husky Products ovals/backgrounds if you have not seen them check out the thread in the classifieds section. I realize it is a rider, but they add that little extra something.

My wife complains about the garage, she would have more space to get in and out if she would let me park my 250xc in the living room, hell we !never! use it anyway.

A friend helped me out on the hunt for a correct front fender.
He took my old 1 and gave an original 82 fender took some massive cleaning,no gloss but stock.
He gets a good rip on the beast for helping out. :)

Where did you find the 81/82 tank cover, been looking for one of those?

LOL sorry not much help there, my buddy Rod kept it 20 years on his brothers bike who passed away back then and was my BF.
I pointed it out at the dealership in the early 80s to buy it and hide his dented tank on his 81 xc.
Rod gave it to me to treasure and have a part of my old bud Mel. Mel owned the 84 500 xc i restored also in the forum.

Sand it with 1000 grit then 1500 grit and lots of water. Then use 3M liquid rubbing compound and finish with 3M liquid scratch remover. It will be smooth and shiny like new. Plan on spending a couple hours though.
