  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

A Class
Hi gang, I'm 64 years old and haven't ridden dirt for the last 10 years and really missed it. My buddy and I just bought 2014 TE310's and we plan to do some dual sport, single track and supermoto. I also own a 1976 BMW R90S that I bought new, a 2005 Yamaha FJR1300, bought new, a 1999 Kaw ZRX1100, bought new, a 1978 Ducati 900 Sport Desmo, bought new, a 1972 Husky CR250, bought new that I used to MX and a 1971 Bultaco 250 Matador. Before even starting them, we have taken the wheels off to grease the bearings, greased all the pivot points, shortened the rear signsls, junked the reflectors and ugly plate holder and just ordered a complete set of supermoto wheels with tires.
Wil be taking them out to a 300 acre area to carefully break them in. How long should we wait to de-smog and power up the bikes? Thanks, anyone out near the Raleigh, Greenssboro, NC area? Would like to meet up for Screenshot_2013-10-14-05-46-13.png a ride.

G'day.
I love the 310R. So stable at speed yet so agile in the tight stuff.
Mine was powered up and 50T rear sprocket fitted before first ride. It's set up for rough, rocky trails and I don't do any commuting on it.
For break in, I was told to:
- ride it normally but don't trash it
- don't hold it at high rpm for any length
- change oil after first ride and every 250 kms after that

From my experiences with a TE250 - the handlebars love to vibrate. An aftermarket handlebars or dampener maybe a good investment. I had my bike powered up and desmogged from dealership.

I think with any bike, just take it easy for the first hundred miles or so. Go through the rpms gently and don't sustain higher rpms for too long.. then as the bike gets more mileage, abuse her a little harder, etc.

Congrats, very nice looking machine. I changed the oil/filter on mine after the first ride, and took it moderately easy. Then let er' rip from that point forward, I try to change the oil every 7hrs. Filter every other change and mine has just north of 100hrs on it now. Its a great bike they handle really well, best compromise for a trail/track/street legal scoot in my estimation.

As these guys have said, get it powered up now and break it in. It most likely won't run well in the stock form since the smog crap chokes the snot out of the engine. My 2012 was powered up from the dealer prior to me buying as well.

Great bikes. Remember that this is a race bike with a plate so you will be dealing with short gearing and not great road manners. Not good for long street miles.

Running it in uncorked would be better for the engine in my opinion. Although the aim of the smog gear is a good idea in theory it just destroys what the bike is and makes it run leaner and hotter which is not good for a new motor.

With 17s you will need a 630 kickstand (bolts right up) leans a little more, but is good to go. If you are racing SuperMoto never mind.

HAVE FUN !!!

Totally agree.

510 SM SC, I always like the like the pics of your SM. You were a big help when I was buying the SM conversion for my TE. Thanks for the info. I'm in the East Bay area, so those pics of the SC beach area are always familiar. Ping me if you're going to be in the east bay area. I live out on Palomares Rd. Always up for rippin' up the road. I have the TE back in dirt shoes now, but I can convert to SM in about an hour.

I have the dirt wheels on my TE also, going south next week to ride with my brother. Planning Big Bear to Yucca Valley and return ride 92 miles. Should be fun all dirt.
