  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Hi picking my SMR 511 up monday 2011 model 750 miles on the clock. Seem a bit rare in the U.K. Local bike shops didn't really want to know when asking about valve check and service. I think I will check my valves myself the online manual seems great. Are these bikes still being made now? Are there enough of them out there for spare parts not to be a problem?
I do not know if the bike has race map 2 installed. I here these bikes may make only low 40's HP out of the box. Is this a location thing? U.K any different?

Where are you based in the UK? Valves seem to hardly move on these bikes and service is so easy it only takes about 15 minutes to change the oil.
If you have the resistor in for race map 2 it will show on the dash when you turn it on. Most dealers put this in when the bike is new.
They are not being made any more, spares should be readily available (general service stuff) but can be sporadic depending on what you want.

I in stoke on trent. What sort of milage are you putting on yours? I will be putting 50 ish miles a week on so not expecting too many problems. Whats the mpg like from a race engine I guess 50 ish uk mpg if not riden in anger. I know this bike is no commuter but I love riding something lightweight and different. I had a drz 400 seemed a bit heavy.
