  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

New Muffler For Te 449?

MotoXotica

Husqvarna
AA Class
Has any one installed any aftermarket muffler on their te 449?how did it turn out.any stalling at low speed?Dan

I am running the Akrapovic on mine and it will stall occasionally. I am going to try the optional map in the service tool when I get my bike back from Enduro Engineering next week.

I'm running a Barrett I welded on to the stock mid pipe. LOVE it. Way more performance on my TE511, still pretty quiet, run perfect after Bills (BMP) did something. Need to ask what because it would stall a little but now runs absolutely perfect.

My TXC511 with the Akra and the Race Map plug works flawless, when removing the map plug it become more prone to flame out, which I suspect may be due to the lower idle. Someday Im plan to try the 'slow' map and bump the idle up a touch to see how it acts.

any one in the US running a different muffler on their te 449?i dont think txc experiences are relevant as they use a different ecu and throttle body.dan j

Really? I know the TC is different, but thought the TE and TXC were the same except for the muffler. But then you should have better info than I do Dan ;)

Since these 449's and 511's aren't adjustable at the ECU for fueling (except through software download maps from BMW) they are sort of making a new ECU ( or factory adjusted map) an accessory.

Can you post a followup when you find out ?

Bryan at Bills ran an FMF Powercore on a TE449 last weekend on a fairly tight single track poker run. AFAIK he found the mapping just fine (with power up plug installed).

eastrider.what bike do you have and how is it set up?oregosage,do you know if bils did any thing special or just slapped the pipe on?and congrats on the the new te 250,hope you enjoy it!dan

Dan, turning the brass screw on the EFI will up the idle and make the bike not pop anymore. that's all Bills did to mine and it runs perfect. Still going to work with the JD X2 to see if there is more performance / fuel milage and better running hidden in there but right now my bike is 100% and rips.

Word I have is that they did nothing else ... I dont even think they bumped the idle up, but they were running the race map plug, which in my experience makes for a slighly higher idle anyway. (Corrected by Bill below, they did tweak the idle but nothing else)

And the TE250 was a hoot in the woods.... I will keep the TXC511 for China Hat and similar open territory though.

I have te 449 race map 2 and akra slip and I try prety much any setting possible with the brass screw from stalling to high reving but still pop will try to find new exhaust gasket unless some one have a better idea cause my dealer just close is shop 2 week ago and the closes shop is 300 km away and no other te around to compared

Bryon rode our TE449 yesterday with the FMF slip on all we did is adjust the Bypass screw to the idle correct and he loved it .

Hey Dan, I raised the idle speed on my 511 and it really seemed to help cure the stalling issue. Rode Georgetown last
weekend and it ran perfect. Jerry

It is slightly deeper sounding than the stock Akro on my 511 but not really louder. I barely heard him when he passed me :-)
