  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

First off this is a great looking forum with quite an appealing look to it.
I've been reading through the threads and have found a vast amount of knowledge here with many different opinions and views witch is great to see.
Having had bad luck with an 09 ktm 530 exc I sold it and upgraded to a drz400sm with a dirt set up,bile was flawless and let me beat it hard every ride till it was just plain wore out.when I started looking for a new ride the husqvarna was one of my first choices as a lighter factory dual sport back woods bike.with all my ktm issues in the past I wasn't keen on giving them a small fortune for a bike that still required so much more just to ride to the corner store and back.
Living just east of vancouver bc dealer support for the husqvarna brand is quite limited and the closest dealer to me with the best price was a 5 hour comute

So far the bike is everything I hoped for
I've got 200 kms of tight backwoods riding with minor hiccups

I've experienced the oil puking on the motor issue witch does not concern me really as I've read about the fixes
The zipty add on
Gearing is deaffinatly a concern so a front sprocket is going to be needed
Bar risers and a seat upgrade are my only other concerns

Question for you husky pros

Where's the best source online for parts pieces aftermarket doodads and everything else I might want for this bike
Also does anyone have any opinions on gearing this tractor down so I don't smell burnt clutch as frequently as I do on the steep climbs

Thanks for any input it will be greatly appreciated

As far as aftermarket protection check motosportz and 7602 racing. You obviously read about zip-Ty. For OEM parts Bills Motorcycles Plus and Halls seem to stock most everything and ship quickly. I know motosportz makes bar risers and seat concepts is the to to seat guys. Good luck with the new ride :)

I run a 14 T counter shaft sprocket on mine. Stock is 15. Now low gear is almost low enough and Hi gear is just too low. The bike will idle along at 5 MPH and cruse easily at 55 MPH. I love my TE449 more every day, over 3000 miles with no problems.

I hate that. I mean...it doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out folks want to go slow in 1st gear and fast in 6th, does it? Motocross = CR, everything else = WR. Got it, Husqvarna?
