  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

New Husqvarna in my garage soon.....7 hours and counting

My wonderful wife and awesome nephew drove to seattle to pick up my new bike, while I slaved away at the salt mines. I plan on riding it tomorrow (sunday) and the next day. If I am able to put together a coherent thought I will let you all know how great the bike is. I'm sure I will be like a giddy school girl after riding it!

Enjoy!

I thnk you will like it! I've got about 11 hours on mine now...really enjoying it:thumbsup:
I would recommend getting a Zip TY oil recirculation kit and keep an eye on those rear sprocket screws... they seemed to get loose quickly!!

Ride report

I rode it about 40 miles today, all I can say is WOW! What an amazing motorcycle! I tried to get into just about every kind of dirt, sand, whoops and some flat out washes, the thing just seems to work everywhere. The only complaint I can think of is the gearing is to low and that is an easy fix. It tops out around 65 mph. I plan on breaking it in completely stock then I will change the sprocket.

Enjoy, they are great bikes. Took mine out to the dez yesterday and felt hero on it.

Swapping the countershaft is a piece of cake....and you get to lube the swingarm bearings while you are there. The TXC/TE tends to be geared a bit high, even for desert....but TC is a 5 speed so probably different.

The stock gearing on the tc449 is 15/53, I could go pretty fast it I rev it to the moon. I would much prefer keeping it in the middle of the power. I will more than likely go to a 50 or 51 rear.

I would not change anything until you break it in. My TXC 449 gained quite a bit of oomph at around 300 miles

I run the TC 449 as seen in my Avatar pictured at the left at the moment in my BMW G450X, as I wanted a close ratio transmission for some of the tighter more tcechnical stuff. My BMW had a wider trans and is a 5 spd also. I ran 13/48 on it and I run 14/48 on the TC. The TC's 5th gear is the same ratio as the BMWs 4th but this TC with this gearing will easily crack 4th gear power stands all day long with out even breathing hard or pulling on it.

Enjoy. If I want to tighten it up I install a rear 49 or up it to a 51 but that hasn't been the case so far. It leaves my buddies CRF 450R in the dust and this weekend he's dropping the front from a 15 to a 14 himself. I guess he's tired of the chips in his new Bell helmet he just got a week ago from the brand new 140/80/18 Motoz "Tractionator" tire throwing logs and everything else in the path at him. I say "Great sport", he says ""take it easy, lets just cruise. He's about half my age too.

I elected to change the 53 tooth sprocket for a 50, I don't want to tap the motor completely until it gets broken in. The race tomorrow always has very long (10+ miles) and very high speed sand washes.

My TXC 511 was 15/51 standard with a .92 6th gear. I found that 14/51 (1 tooth down on front) was perfect for central Oregon desert.
The TC is 1.04 5th gear so slightly lower geared at the engine/counershaft. Youre probably very close to where you want to be, and as someone else said, the engines tend to need a few hours on them before they fully loosen up and find all the power.

I'm sure the bike will do 65-70 stock but that will be at a very high rpm, I'm looking to maintain my top speed with lower rpm's. I was in a very high speed wash on monday with my nephew he rides a 2014 yz450 14/50 with maybe 20 hours on it, left me and he was in 4th and I was 5th almost full throttle. I can't have him beating me when we race tomorrow, I will never hear the end of it :D

140/80!! that's a MONSTAH...love the tractionator...am going to the bike show in Toronto today and hoping to see a vendor unloading a 130/80 - 18 to replace the Kenda trailmaster a ran the end of last season...went to a 120/90 in the Kenda and was getting waaaaay too much wheel spin. At 160 lbs soaking wet...I'm thinking the bigger shoe will do a better job harnessing the new top end I'm about to put into my trusty rig!!

Well, I raced the new tc449 for the first time yesterday. With the new gearing 15/50 the thing was perfect, first was perfect for the tight stuff and it now has plenty of top end speed. I was touching the 80mph mark in the washes and it was stable.

I fell off about a mile into the race and went to last place in my starting wave, I picked the bike up and put my head down and in the next 29 miles I passed 15 riders. I topped the fuel off took off, by the end of the race(85 miles) I passed about 20 riders and finished 5th out of 20 riders in my class. All in all it was a great day of racing and the bike was great.
