  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

New Husky owner

Well. picked up the bike today. Dealer installed the fmf pipe, desmogged and remapped. Here is my assessment after a short 15 mile ride on street and dirt/sand roads.

Street: I had no issue with doing 50/55 on the road. The bike did not seem to vibrate much more that the DRZ when on the road. Should be perfect for me to get to the trails. I could see in the mirrors and did not feel uncomfortable at all. I road on a state hwy, town roads and County roads.

Dirt/Sand Road: This is where the difference really shows up. The bike inspired great confidence. Sometimes on the DRZ when I hit the trails I would feel unstable for awhile, kind of like I might fall at any minute. NOT with the Husky. This thing is planted and tracks like a dream. The suspension is much stiffer that the DRZ and that will take some getting used to. When I hit some rough spots I just stood up and gassed it and WOW never even felt like I was hitting ruts, and small pot holes. These are the same roads that I rode the DRZ and always had that shaky feeling.

The bike ran perfect! No backfiring on decel, not stalling or sputtering. I think the dealer got it right. The only issue I had on my short ride is the pipe. The powercore even with the insert is pretty loud. Sort of made my ears ring. I will have to see how it goes.

So far I am very happy. I think I got a great bike at a great price.

I used a decatted TE muffler for street. Bills has a few spares they will sell if you want to preserve your stock one.

I need some help. I can't get my speed to read in mph. It is set in kmh. I did a search and found different procedures but none of them work. Has anybody done it for 2013 te511? Thanks

So I read some posts about changing the oil and I decided to get some bling for the bike. I ordered the oil bolt set from 7602. I figured eventually the stock bolts would get ruined, plus the 7602s look nice.

I rode to work today. Looked dismal cloudy and ugly out. I thought, "excellent weather for the TE!"
Enjoy your bike. You'll learn alot about it on this forum. I tried a friend's DRZ out on the trails once. Once!
