  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

New Husky Owner / TE 449

I've recently purchased a 2011 TE 449, three mounths old. I periodically recieve an "FAIL" message on the dash readout. The owners manual states that when you recieve this message that there is a malfunction in the EFI. The bike runs fine and the dealer is unable to track down the cause. Are there any 449 owners out there that have experienced a similar problem? If so, what was the diagnosis or repair?

Ignore it if the bike is running ok. I get it on my 310 and so does my son on his 310. I do not even notice it anymore.

I also have a new TE449 and have the same problem, the bike has lunged when this happens a few times. I first thought it was because I was lugin it too often in the single track, but the last time out when I did a warm up on the double wide it happened again. My bike is now at the dealer and they are going to try to diagnose the problem. I also would like to know if changing the fuel mapping may help.

Happens on my SNR511 occasionally, usually if I've turned the ignition on and off quickly not allowing enough time for the EFI to reset.
Has also happened in heavy rain and also found battery terminal was loose.

I saw it a lot during break-in. Now I rarely see it. Usually, I'll get it if the bike fails to start on the first attempt in the colder weather. Never had any issues with it. I did a 35 mile trail ride one day last Sept. with it on the speedo and never had an issue.

Thanks for everyones input. FYI... the dealer replaced the secondary wire harness. Took her to Ocotillio for two days of desert ridi'n, problem seems to be solved.

Thanks for the info, I will let my dealer know to try this on mine, please let us know if it reoccurs.
