  • Hi everyone,

    As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

    When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

    Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

    Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

    Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Hey guys,

I just picked up a 2002 CR125 so I wanted to introduce myself and ask a few questions. Some of my riding buddies tell me the bike has a few cool things. It has some sort of factory racing sticker kit with a bunch of sponsers and the number "6", Marzocchi Shiver front forks, and I think a Conti CHR pipe. Supposedly the bike originated from the Fast by Ferracci dealer and has porting and possibly some sort of piston kit. I am in the process of going through the jetting right now it seems to have pretty stock jetting. I am looking for any information that you guys can tell me about the bikes that came from FBF. Oh yea I did a compression test and its about 190psi, is that pretty healthy?

FBF did some port work to the cylinders. They did a 125 and a 135 cylinder . There a few old ones around.
They used to be involved with the US Husqvarna race team
I think they ve stopped doing much 2 stroke stuff.

A FBF bike will have a few frame mods, footpeg mounts beefed up, a brace welded between the motor mounts on each side, mounts for a skid plate, and a brace just above intake boot behind carb. Your forks would have a nitrate coating and could be 45 or 50mm with billet triple clamps. You may find some titanium hardware or parts, a programable ignition with a switch on the handlebar, a billet clutch basket and maybe a polished connecting rod, and black DID rims. Their pistons are Wiseco and I think still available from them on EBAY at $50. I hope that helps. JIM
 
I don't really see any kind of frame mods or extra bracing behind the carb boot or the titanium hardware or the switch on the handlebar. The wheels are just the stock silver husky wheels. The triple clamps are just cast. I am pretty sure the forks are 45mm, they are gold in coler. How can you tell if they are nitrate coated? Seems like the bike might just be a stock CR125 with race plastics or something.

So was this something commonly done by FBF just setting a bike up to be a race replica? Anyone ever heard of the Conti "CHR" pipes being used on the Husky's. It seems a little random that someone would buy one to put on there bike??
 
I had a little support from Husqvarna and raced a CR 125 and 250 in 2002. FBF ran the factory team. The team sticker kit was made by N Style and since about the only sticker kit available for Husky's then was the FBF replica kit they ended up on a lot of bikes...it doesn't mean you have a factory bike. If your forks are 50mm and coated black with billet clamps that would be cool and mean something...but the factory forks were available for sale to anyone. All the the titanium parts, suspension mods and motor work was available to anyone who wanted to order their bike and pay the extra money. You could buy a full FBF race bike...or you could pick and choose parts you wanted.

The pipe sounds Italian but I've never heard of it..and I'm pretty familiar with Italian exhausts. I ran a Messico Pipe from Italy on my 125 in 02. I believe FBF ran Pro Circuit Exhausts on the 125's the 3 years they had a team. The 250 Husky's were different, they ran a 2C's pipe from England, a SPES pipe from Belgium and Pro Circuit. You may in fact have a stock pipe on the bike...the stock pipe had something like CH Racing Husqvarna stamped into it.

Eraldo Ferracci told me to buy the FBF clutch basket if I got the race motor. I didn't get his race motor so I didn't go with the clutch basket (trying to save money, and put more money into the 250 as I thought the 125 would be more competitve and the 250 would need work) Anyway in practice at the Hangtown National the stock clutch basket broke into 100 pieces on the way up a hill just before a huge step-up jump. Thankfully I was able to push my bike over to the semi and they had mechanics take a clutch basket out of an extra motor they had and put it in my bike.

Anyway, I think there are a lot of old 01 and 02 CR's out there with a few parts and #6's (Steve Lamson) on that people claim to be "factory bikes" that really aren't unless they have all the stuff vegtablebrain mentioned.

I have a 250 with title from FBF. Bike was originally raced by Lee Chavous. Guy I purchased from said original price was $12,000.
Later I purchased a 125 that I think was built from discarded parts. Frame has the mods, motor didn't have a serial #, 45 mm forks, nitrate coated. Wheels were new but from an 04 so they have floating brakes. Later I purchased a pile of titanium from the guy who sold me the 125.
I ride the 125 most and have tried to make the 250 as good as I can. I think it now has more than 60 titanium pieces.
Everytime I ride the 125 I shake my head as I can't believe how much good power it has and how much fun it is to ride. I don't think I have a ported FBF cylinder on either bike and that's alright with me as I tend to ride at lower rpm.
I figure both these bikes are still competitive with what is sold today. I did put 50mm forks on the 125 as I had them prior to buying the moded 125. Therefore both bikes have great motors and suspension. JIM
 
I have a 2000 cr125. It has the FBF graphics and I think a FBF ported cylinder. It has "FBF 117" engraved into the side of the cylinder so im assuming it was ported. Nothing else gives me the idea that it was a factory bike. It has cast triple clamps, the gold forks, i don't think there nitrate-coated. It has a pro circuit platinum and a 304 shorty. I also don't see any frame mods or bracing. The motorcycle originated from central jersey cycles. Any idea about these rare 125s?
 
It might have a FBF stamped on the side of the cylinder. Had a FBF CR133? kit in my 2006. Top end power was awesome!!
Then I put the WB165 kit on and everything became awesome!
 
I have the same bike but then in enduro set up same sticker set and so on

the cylinder was stock but I did purchase a FBF ported cylinder from rock-dancer

I rode it for a while and it has for sure an interesting top end for a 125

yet a comparison with a 165 should not be done as it is a total different character of the motor

A 165 would win it hands down (have to say that my 165 is not in a screamer set up but a mountain goat one)

suits better the terrain I ride

Yup I'm trying to set my bike up for more woods riding but that porting for top end power isn't really helping lol. I ride mx but not on a technical track. We ride more on tight woods tracks that require a ton of low end out of corners or you loose all speed. One time I cased a jump HARD because I didn't have enough speed out of the corner.
 
hey anybody know where abouts I could pick up a 165 kit? do you have to get it bored or is it a kit and do you have to get a stroker crank?
 
search 165 here on the forum, theres threads about its creation and everything. many many happy customers it looks like
 
get in contact with motosportz he is offering it as a kit or a turnaround deal

if you want to get a 177 kit then the crank have to be stroked

might be not that more expensive if you have that to be replaced anyway in a overhaul if not the 165 gives you already loads of grins and fun
