    As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

    When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

    Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

    Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

    Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Took a chance recently on some 1/2 price Smith "Enduro" goggles, dual pane (pain?) lens xtra ventilation, etc.

I have some Smith OTG goggles which are pretty good, but these are a def step up, foam is super plush and best of all they fit over my rimless, wire frame glasses :thumbsup: Quick test ride and seems like they should work, have to see how they do when it cools off. I'm expecting to need the $100 version with the fan, but hoping to get away cheaper, as always :rolleyes:
These came with roll offs system and a goggle bag, so pretty good deal.

How the heck do you get rimless wire-frame glasses on with a helmet?

I have the no hinge springy frame (frameless) glasses, and would never even attempt to put them on while having helmet on.
Shoot, plastic ear piece safety glasses are hard enought to get on with a helmet.

Vision is good enough to ride, but with glasses there's much more definition.
 
I guess mine are partial rimless with Ti frame on top and hinges. Thin and flexible enough to stuff into all the helmets I've had lately. Goggle fit isn't good because they have nose pads though.
 
I bought a pair of the "Smith dual pane goggles from "RutMonkey" also. $ 44.00 shipped and they include the complete roll off set up, 3 stick on visors for the top of the goggle lens to keep crud and water from behind the roll off film also comes with them and a nice goggle bag. I mounted the Roko Quick straps like on all my goggles, which I have also used since about 86'.

$44.00 shipped, now that is a heck of a deal. I probably paid more than that in 1986. I have used the "Smith Roll Offs" since the mid to late 80s and still have a few old Smiths large frame lenses with the pull motors and cartridge reels and a bag of rolls of film. Its the same as the new rolls. These drive motors are still usable, just drill and mount to the O frames lenses.

These same "Smiths Fuel v.1 Max Enduro Moto Series dual pane Anti-Fog Airflow Lens goggles" alone are 44.00 at Motorcycle superstore.

I normally use the Oakley "O" frame Goggles. I get the lenses for them from Moose racing for about $7.00 instead of the normal $10 to $25 -$40 depending on the type coating for the expensive ones. If I want to run a tinted gray or light blue tint, those I do pay the $10.00 for them from Oakley. Either way if you ride much the brush here will get to your goggles soon enough and they will get scratched fast. No way getting around that.

I bought another pair of the Oakley "O" frames last year with the "Moose Racing Roll off system" and clear lens. This roll off set up was pre mounted for the "O" frames. All I had to do was stick on the visor strip. You can only mount it in one position. Its right up against the goggle frames overlapping the film correctly.

I even bought an extra set of the stick on visors and have had nothing but trouble with air getting behind the film and moisture too. It seems I have used up nearly an entire roll just cranking it to keep the film snug and keeping the film from flapping. The width of the film and the fit of the film is quite snug (solve with a razor blade) at the nose piece rubber of the Oakley "O" frames and a PIA to get under the stick on strip visor at the same time when messing with them out in the field if I have my gloves on.

The first time I loaded a roll of film into the "Moose drive system" and went riding the enclosure hadn't snapped shut all the way and half of the darned enclosure fell off. In front of my Buddies house whom I was going riding with. I can't seem to get them to snap securely with out manhandling them. I've had a 1" piece of Electrical tape he provided on each side of them ever since.

Needless to say I will be looking forward to changing to the "Smiths Roll Off set up" at the next opportunity when I go out in the rain.
