• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

NEW DOT X2 headlight coming

A while back i asked Geoff, the owner of Trailtech if he would build a DOT headlight with a clipped beam for DS bikes. I love the X2 lights, cheap and BRIGHT but the path of the beam pisses off oncoming traffic. Well he has one done and it is super cool. The top 2" is replaced with a 2" projector beam and reaches WAY out there. The 4" has a clipped beam and floods the needed are really nice and does not piss off oncoming traffic. I will be testing a preproduction one out shortly and production is on the way. A VERY good light for those looking for a great DS or SMR headlight replacement.

Sounds like just what i have been looking for. Keep us posted.

Thanks

I wish I had waited now. Maybe I'll sell the one I bought a month ago and never installed and wait for this one.

Will the bottom mount be the same pin style setup as the X2?

Yes, same light different internals. The bottom plate allows about an inch or so front to back and the pins have 2 locations so that give your plenty of adjustment. I have been running the standard X2 on my SM610 for over a year and it works great, this new one should have a much nicer path pf light.

2" projector bean top / 4" clipped width flood on the bottom DOT bulbs...

Looks great, but I think my wolfman bag would cover the top light. That is why I have not ordered one yet, I wish they could make side by side. The bag rest just above the stock light.

I have the light in my possession and will be testing , reporting on it after using it this weekend. It's a really thoughtful design and allows individual adjustment of the 2" projector beam.

dirtriderwjc2000 - the design is "cast in stone" as this is the same headlight shell as the X2. I don't see that changing any time soon.

any news on this ?

The original X2 HID has amazing light output but there seems to have been a fairly short life span of the 2" light in some cases.

This might be a solution for that problem too.

Was out at TT today and they told me 2 more weeks. They had an issue with one of the mounting injection molded parts which set them back some.

As for the 2" issues (above) other than an assembly issues pinching wires i have not had one returned and have sold piles.

Dot light

I've been wanting to upgrade my light on the 08 610. I didn't see the Dot light on your website, so I went to the trailtech site. The light looks different than the one you've pictured here, different 2" light. I was going to order one but to get both lights on for high beam you have to order their switch and cable. No biggie but their switch does not have turn signals or horn. Whats up with that? Should be able to wire this somehow with my switch, how did you handle this with your bike? Eastern Beaver may have something that works.

What would you like to know? we have them and are selling them. Will get them up on the site. If you need one ASAP just Email me. Thanks.

Kelly are the DOT legal lights HID or Halogen? How does it dim (shuts one light off)? How long to restart if HID? Thanks, Ken
