  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Hey boys - just got a good deal on a 12 TXC 310. Coming off of a 02WR250. Anyway I had it shipped from a dealer here in northern NJ where it's still a bit cold. I figured I would just start setting it up - skid plate - rad guards - etc.
Greased all the non sealed electrical connections and put it all together. I put some gas in it yesterday and fired it up. It ran for about 5 sec with the cold start lever in and then died. Can't seem to get it started again.
Spark is good. Fuel pump is working.(pumping gas from the tank) battery voltage is 13v - cranks over fine but no go. Injector issue? It acts like it has no gas. Same thing with the kicker. Rechecked all the connections - all seems good. Any ideas ? Dealer is far away so I'm on my own on this one.

Hi CCP, When your cranking it over, does it seem like you got good compression or does it crank over quickly? bad decopm adjustment? Valve adjust? Friend had this problem on a new bike.

Compression seems normal - even with the kicker. Haven't checked the valves. The dealer said he prepped it and it was good to go. Thanks for the reply.

Sounds like a bad connection somewhere. Take your filter out and shoot lil ether in it to see if it fires.

That will tell you if it is no fuel issue.

Just got it going - fouled plug. I guess I didn't hold the cold start lever in long enough when I first started it. Not sure how that thing works. Does it add air to the ECU mixture or fuel somehow? As far as the connections go - just trying to avoid trouble down the road. The backs of some of the connectors are wide open to dirt water etc. Anyway all good. Thanks for the help.

Glad you got it running. Not sure how it works exactly, but it is not connected to the ECU. It connects directly to the throttle body. Fouled plug seems odd on a 4-stroke.

I believe the lever is an air bypass. So the same as when it all started in 2008 models, just on the bars.

The little red lever is an enrichener, I believe it adds fuel. I may be wrong, but that's my understanding of it after talking to Harold at Ridersvillle Cycles. Btw, just got the first ride on my '12 txc310 today.
