• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Need help with TMR :(

I hope its ok to cross post I put basically the same thing on TT... I figured since I'm one out of two or three people in the world with the 570/Mikuni combo I need all the help I can get lol!

Just go back from one of the most miserable rides of my life... I'm seriously pissed. I had to stay in second gear most of the time because the throttle was so unpredictable I didn't want to get myself hurt. My 570 runs great around the house and I thought I had the jetting nailed--afterall I've been tuning it for quite awhile now. However the very second I hit the trail its all over.

I have an un-relenting bog and horrible 1/4-3/4 throttle response. If I snap the throttle it will stumble for a second or two then either die or rev to the moon. A buuuuuu___________________________________raaaappppppp! And it is horribly inconsistent. One minute it runs somewhat decent (usually when the motor has cooled down for awhile) and the next it is horrible. Up top it clears out and scoots pretty good.

Right now I'm thinking its the needle. No matter where I set it there is a constant blubber in the 1/2-3/4 throttle and Its worse when I richen/raise the needle but I can't go any leaner because its in the top clip now.

I switched my friend (he has a 2000 TE610 with the Delortto) for awhile and his had a bog, but its a million times better than mine.

I've already spent $70 in goofy jets for this rare bird--should I bail now while I'm ahead and try tuning in a Keihin FCR? Can I even get a better needle for this bike? I'd take the Delortto anyday at this point. Any help whatsoever would be great right now,

Andrew

I should add that this bike was VERY lean on the pilot jet when I took ownership. I feel I have the pilot jet and fuel screw tuned in very nice right now i.e. starts good, idles good at ~2 turns out.

Found the problem. Leaking boot on accelerator pump causing little to zero squirt in the intake. Explains a lot....

Now the big question where do I find parts for the Mikuni TMR 41? I called and Sudco has nothing for it.

I put a Dellorto on mine. I had originally gotten a freebie FCR, but when I went to fit it there was issues w/the rear boot. For an old bike, it made more sense to sell it and invest in the Dellorto, which I'm quite familiar with from my other 610's. Easy fit and jetting, cheap on e-bay. I couldn't get the TMR to ever run correctly from new. Too much brain damage on that one.

I hear ya on that one. My friend rode the bike on a 100 mile loop the other day and said it ran awesome... However when I went to ride it today it had the bog of death. This time the accelerator pump piston was stuck at the bottom of its stroke and the spring didn't have enough pressure to return it to its closed position LOL.

This is after I added a nice fuel filter and to prevent debris from entering the ap circuit. Oh well time for a replacement. Brain damage is absolutely right! :banghead:
