  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

I bought the bike and it didn't come with a kick start. It was fine for a while but it gets really old when the battery goes dead and i'm to tired to push it. Does anyone know the best place to get a part like this? Maybe a price range? Thanks

Welcome to the forum! As you don't have a location listed you might try these guys- http://www.husqvarnaoutlet.com/ . They deal with dealers all over the world to find the part you need. I haven't used them (yet) but their website has all of the info you may need. I think the part number for just the kick starter is: 8000 99971

Thanks for all your responses. I was told that people have had trouble with installing the kit. Is anyone else aware of this?

The kit isn't to hard to install. You have to remove the brake pedal, oil line on the lower end, and the large clutch cover. Once inside you remove the clutch and install the kick start idler gear and the kick start shaft assembly. Reassemble the clutch. Remove the plug from the clutch cover where the kickstarter goes and install the seal for the kick shaft. Install the clutch cover, oil line, and the rear brake lever. I also like to just turn the fuel off and lay the bike on the floor to skip draining the oil. I have installed over 20 of these and they are really pretty easy to do. I do have a complete kit for sale in the classifieds http://www.cafehusky.com/threads/complete-2004-2005-kickstart-kit.24474/ and I can provide some instructions to make the job easier. If you are in washington state you can stop by and I can help you do it. Mike

That part # will get you half of the kick starter and none of the small pieces you need.

I must have been mistaken on what you actually need. The parts book I looked at showed this part# as the kick start lever. There is another part# for the complete kit.
