  • Hi everyone,

    As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

    When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

    Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

    Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

    Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

    Thanks for your patience and support!

Hi, I'm looking to by a cheap project bike to add to the stable of ktms, and I have found a 250 two stroke husqvarna for a decent price. The seller says it is a 2003 wr250, but from what I have read there are no 2003 models in the US. What also concerns me is that he says it's a we but it does not have tail lights or turn signals, I was wondering if any of you gu-ros could tell me what I might be getting my self into thanks.

Look on the steering head, there should be some numbers and letters. That will tell you what it is.

Thanks for the info, I ended up buying it last night for $500!! I will have to check the stering stem tonight but it is an overall great project bike to start with. It has good compression (feeling with my foot) and nothing on it is majorly banged or beat up, except the obvious plastics and so one... I will most likely be starting a built the ad soon and plan on documenting it all.

And I also forgot to mention that the title does say it is 2000 and the 18" rear wheel is making me think it is actually a wr

Pull the cover off under that pipe on the right hand side. Looks like a 250 weather someones taken wr kit off to make it a field bike or if its a cr will be able to twll you after you post up pic of stator.
Small 70mm stator =cr
Big 110mm stator =wr

No thats an after market job, im 99% sure they came with specs. Not sure If ive spelt that correctly looks wrong.

I see plastics all over ebay. It actually looks like it hasn't had much use. Just wasn't loved. You can fix that part.

It looks like a 2000 CR 250 to me.
No brake light switch on rear brake master cylinder, short muffler( looks aftermarket though), no lights & different guard to WR.
The stator is probably the easiest way to tell.
10th digit in on the VIN will tell you the year
X=1999
Y=2000
1=2001
2=2002
3=2003

Okay I have since bought the bike and have already tore it down to the frame to start the restoration. On the steering stem and the title it states it to be a wr but it has the cr stator/ flywheel and wiring. I have been taking plenty of pics on the tear down and was planning on making another thread just for the whole tear down and rebuild, or should I just keep posting the progress on this page?
