• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

My project TE630...almost complete.

man I have to have a set of those wheels, where did you get them and how much will they set me back

Sethro

Hubs look great but I rekon the bet improvment was the blacking out of the exhaust shield-looks brilliant.
Nice looking machine mate, well done

Thanks for the positive feedback guys...especially the comment about my lawn....ha! :D

I got the wheels from Fasterusa.com...dealt with Colin who was very thorough. No mods necessary the stock disc brakes and spocket bolted right up to the new hubs...simple install. The wheels with hubs and spokes assembled were around $800 and with tires mounted and ready to go was just a hair more than $1000 which included tubes, valve stems, rim bands...the whole nine. Very impressed and happy with what I got and I'm quite particular as you can see from the pics.

Why would any mfg put silver Excel wheels on any dirtbike when the black wheels are the same price?

BTW I still have the stock silver Excel wheels with the stock Karoo's still on them with about 500 miles. If anyone wants to buy them send me a PM with a reasonable offer...they're in excellent shape.

In about 1000-2000 miles you may be asking why anyone would use black rims. They look great, for a while.

That may be true, but I'm not hard on my bike like some people. I also have a friend with a KTM that has black Excel rims with about 4000 miles on it and he beats his bike hard. His rims have seen better days but they still look better than those dated silver wheels we got.

That might be the best looking Husky ever... I'd give you $50 if you'd let me wheelie it through a mud puddle.

Thanks, but don't be fooled...this aint no show bike. Gets plenty muddy every time I ride. You'd be amazed at what a little soap and water can do.

I put RAD hubs and wheels (anodized black) on an XR628 I built, and an XR650R - had Woody's do the work.
The Honda wheels are easy to bend... but I'm curious why you replaced the excellent 'double logo' Excels with black ones. For the looks?
The oem wheels on the TE's are about as good as oem wheels get. I like the black ones too, but not sure I'd spend the mulah just for the looks.

The black wheels on both my XR's got well used in rough country....Moab, Baja, etc. and came out of it pretty much scratch free. Tough stuff.

Yes I did it just for the trick looks. Had a few extra bucks and I think it was well worth it. Husqvarna could've easily put these wheels on from the factory as they do on their other bikes. The wheels are identical to the factory Excel wheels...obviously their black, but the spokes are a noticeably heavier gage when you compare side-by-side. The RAD hubs are clearly better than the stock hubs. Of course none of this improves the performance of the bike, but what's better than pulling the garage everyday and having this machine stare you down...now that's priceless.

I used the RAD "economy" hub on my XR's...which is structurally identical to their more expensive pieces, but with less material machined off - so they're slightly heavier but have undergone fewer expensive machining steps.
And they are robust.

I've decided to sell my TE630 if anyone is interested they can PM me. Since the pics posted in the beginning of the thread I've probably put 200 miles on the bike if that so it looks exactly the same except it now has upgraded aluminum wide pegs from Husky, BRP chain guide and LED signals.

Thanks
