• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Well I've been talking about getting a dual sport, or enduro for quite a while. I finally pulled the trigger yesterday, and brought home a 2011 Husky TE 630. Took a drive down to beautiful Salida CO with a friend as Co pilot, took a short test ride and bought it. On the way home we ran into a parking lot on the highway, so took a detour over Borreas Pass, so I got in about 20 miles of dirt riding too! The pass road is passable by car, but is rutted, gravel and rocks, steep and in some areas only 1 lane wide, with beautiful views and steep drop offs. A great place to break out my rusty dirt riding skills. I stopped a couple times to wait for my friend in the car and took these pics

Thanks, yes it is nice, and is well set up. I have some LED Aux lights I removed from my Tiger I'm going to add, plus a rear rack. Maybe a Safari tank if my hopes to ride back to Alaska where I used to work come thru for next year

Seat concepts seat, and it does pretty well. No problems in the 220 miles I road it last weekend, hope to try it out better soon!

Looks like the Seat Concept http://www.seatconcepts.com.
I put one on my bike and my bottom end was never an issue during a 3 day dual sport ride.
I highly recommend it.

When you planning the Alaska trip? I've been thinking of doing one myself, but haven't been successful in convincing anyone to join me yet.

It would be sometime next summer, late July or August probably. I used to work in the Oilfield up in Prudhoe Bay, and still have some friends in the Wasilla area I haven't seen in years.

Here's the AK trip I've been thinking on for a couple yrs now. Tow the 630 to Whitehorse, unload and ride to Inuvik, Top of the World, Prudhoe, Denali Hwy, Hatcher Pass, etc. Reload bike and ride home. 7000miles on Wing/3000 on TE. Sobering distances...but man what a trip it would be. I'm considering it for late Aug/early Sept '16 but want to do a couple hundred mile trip first to fully vet my setup.
