• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

took the lil' pup to a track over here in the uk called brands hatch. it used to be an F1 circuit many moons ago but now just features stuff like the BSB and touring car championships. Great track though. this was on the indy circuit (short version of GP track). still a little long for an SM at 1.2 miles and only really 5 corners but it was still good fun.

only did the afternoon (think a full day would be a bit stressful for the engine) but learned a bit more about the bike and me. i was getting right to the edge of the tyres without decking the pegs out so not sure what's going on there. maybe there was still more lean in her but didn't wanna bin it trying. i know some of you guys deck your pegs so be interesting to hear your findings. anyway here's a few pics and a vid i cobbled together. get passed a lot but was in the intermediate group so those lads were reasonably quick (for non-racers). plus i was quite slow to be honest!

Those leathers make your ass look fat he he he. Looks like fun. Would be cool if you used a bar to mount the campera on so it is off to the side more so you can see the front and track coming up. Good stuff

oi! maybe it ain't just the leathers ;) yeah was experimenting with this set up but it isn't the best. will try it so you can see front wheel, suspension and oncoming track next time. will prob be much better. quite like the reverse cam though. good for the other people in my group!

On that faster track, you may have been better off getting off the inside of the bike, knee down, instead of leg-out. Then you can get lower while carrying more speed. The leg out is for the tight stuff. I use both, but it depends on speed and conditions.

How did those Power Pures take it? You should be able to roll the edges off of them before you run out of tire.

hey mate. yeah deffo right on the hanging off. 1 corner is good for leg out there and that's it. may well be going back in a couple of weeks so will put everything i've learned from these pics and video into practice. still learning to ride an SM really but i'll get there!

yeah they were great, brilliant tyres. awesome in the wet too (been raining over here on my commute). got em right to the edge but guess they've got more in em as i didn't deck the pegs out :(

Those Power Pures are amazing, used them on my Husaberg 650 Supermoto and never found their limit, just seem to grip and grip!

have you got any pics fella? would love to see what they're capable of as soon as i realised i was getting to the edge i backed off but reckon i must be able to get another 10 degrees out of em. i wanna get that bike flat on the corners but wondering if i'll need bigger rims and a 165/170 tyre to do so...?

so impressed with the power pures in the rain, it seems you can ride just like in the dry apart from pinning it coming out of corners. the amount of water the front throws up over the mudguard is hilarious.

You can squeeze a 160 on the 4.25 rear if you want to, which will give you a bit more tire on the edge, that's what I did.
I can peg out hard once I get the PP 2CT's warm, I think you've seen pictures of that already though

A 160 is ample and you can get the pegs down once hot. It feels wrong because you bars are only a few inches off the tarmac too but you can do it. What pressures are you running on the track? Needs to be lower than you think, I ran 23psi rear and 25psi front.

This isn't me unfortunately but you get the idea!!

shit i thought you were gonna say that was you**************************************** that's the sorta pics i want! (and what i thought i looked like til i saw mine!)

i was running about 26/29 i think but yeah will drop em 23/25 next time. have bought some peg sliders to give me some extra feedback for when i'm getting low. will then check the tyres from there and see what's what. i just don't wanna run out of tyre as have done that before and ended up with a broken collar bone at that track!

d'ya reckon the guy on that husaberg is on a 160? that chain looks right close to the tyre...

whatever anyway. you can deck the pegs on a 160, plenty of people have. i just need to man-up and try harder! :D
