  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

copied from another thread that was originally a final drive gear ratio issues thread.

for clarity my 2011 TE310 blackhead is in (MY12 TXC spec) which is MY12 TXC ECU and 12 port injector running stock pipe with a MY10TC250 ti muffler and the dB-S/A plug in it. With this set up she is quiet but super "torquey" she also still revs to the moon if you want to. Its a very enduro bike set up, ride her hard all day with minimal fatigue. In this config the blackhead has zero defects in usable power as far as Im concerned.

my 2013 TXC310R redhead is set up with a full FMF powercore system with FMF's dB-S/A plug in it. ECU is on the LeoVince Open map and idle screw is at 34 turns out.
The TXC has a more racy feel, more Japanese 250F feel, but with my config (dB-S/A plug in) she is still tamed and smooth. I could run the pipe open in alot cases but I never feel the need, I want to pass sound at enduros and thats just the way she will remain. If I was a moto head she would open on the end and Im sure the thing would scream and rip (my skillset does not want rip-I want smooth power)
Camparo----first of and for all.
All the stupid publicity pay no attention----The Blackhead is still a 100% full tilt capable race bike and appears to have a more smooth power curve, making it a "real" enduro power machine. Ammies (99.9% of us) will have no disadvantage riding or racing an "old" Blackhead. These are great bikes, fact Ive had less issues in the past 2 years with my 2011TE then in 10 months of my 13TXC-r.
TXC310R is a more racy feeling machine and without all the TE street wiring and light bits it feel lighter (and is) So probably if your riding a MY12 TXC310 it will feel very much the same as far as weight as the redhead bike, a stripped down TE is what we have.
My TXC310R does also have a strong torque range but it seems to ramp up faster (which makes sense with the head and other updates). I think with the pipe and map Im feeling more smooth power, maybe its the map and its more rich setting? But its smoother now not quite as sharp feeling. (this is the same feeling I felt instantly had when I did the 2011 TE to 12 TXC mod on my MY11 310)

Hey Robert I think you did my head in trying to follow your high tech beasts techo specs. Knowing you I bet they are both top notch machines anyone would love to have
