• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Muffler Packing

MOTORHEAD

Husqvarna
Pro Class
I was wondering if anybody has repackd their ARROW kit mufflers yet? My bike's got about 36 hours on it and I'm thinking about a repack. I ordered a Mosse repack cartridge ( use to be RACE TOOLS ) the other day because I liked them in my 2T's. Never done one in a 4T, but I hope it will take the edge off the sound, it seems like it might be getting a little louder with the DB killer out.

I had been testing some of Race Tools new muffler repacks last year with my YFZ. They had sent me 2 different types of packing, which had not yet been introduced to the market, that I documented hours of use on and then removed the packing contect and returned it to them for analysis. Their samples contained 6 different layers of material..nothing else on the market like they were putting together.

Here is a pic of what the first repack looked like after removing and before returning it to Race Tools.

I've also wondered about the repack of the Arrow. However I've got over 150 hours on mine and it still sounds normal with no indication of having the packing blown yet.

Wonder if Arrow markets a repack kit for their exhaust?

I may just contact Race Tools and find out if they have their new repack sleeve finished yet.

Maybe I'm rushing it if you've got that many hours on yours. I thought mine was sounding a little louder. I put the DB killer in, but it just kills the power as well as the sound.

My repack kit is just the standard stuff they private label for Moose. I went to the RACE TOOLS site, but you can't order them on there anymore. So I ordered a Moose 16" kit through TT.

For all I know ARROW may use Silent Sport packing in their mufflers already and it may not need a repack.

If they've got something better now, let me know. I love their product.

The DB killer may accelerate how quickly the packing will deteriorate since you are essentially plugging the end and causing more pressure inside the can.

I would call Race Tools direct and ask them what they have.

I've also used Silent sport, many times over and over, and it did not even compare to what Race Tools provided me.

After washing my bike from yesterdays ride and while checking everything out I noticed that one of the rivets in the exhaust was missing near the front of the can.

Inserted a new stainless steel pop rivet. Seemed odd though but I do have 4600 miles and 175 hours on it now.

Something to keep an eye on when you give your bike a once over..
