• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Finally, we start out on this awesome day. We get a whoppin 1/4 mile into the day, and my bike all of a sudden sounds funny. I look down and see this:

I think I'm done for the day. It's ok, at least I got a 1/4 mile in for the 2 hours of driving. Then Kelly says, "Hey, I've got an idea". Next thing you know, I'm kneading this putty together thinking to myself, I guess it's worth a shot.

Luckily I had some sandpaper in my truck, and got busy on the metal with that before the putty to clean it up a bit. Here is the putty all applied, and even a little bit of extra re-enforcement for the stinger. A couple of zip ties, and safety wire just incase.

This got me thru the ENTIRE DAY... Kelly and I even went out for a second loop after half the group called it quits, and it was still rockin. No spooge leaks, but it is a bit loose. Nice job Kelly, and thanks for being prepared to fix my bike, AGAIN....

In 2008, a friend of mine punched a hole in the sidecase of his EXC in the middle of the mountains. We used some JBWeld on it and then covered the repair with duct tape and got on the trail again. My buddy swore that he would order a new cover the next day, but the bike is still sporting that leakfree repaired cover today.:D

Ha! My buddy Mike lost the oil fill plug on his new KTM 250 a few weeks back. We duct taped some plastic over it and finished the ride :D

Kelly, and thanks for being prepared to fix my bike, AGAIN....

No problem buddy, glad you did not miss that most excellent ride

remember I gave a tube of that stuff to those two dudes riding double out at Moab whom had smacked a case open. I not sure the last time I used some but I sure have given a lot away

Oh my! I almost forgot about that fix!! Sometimes it pays to have all that random stuff in the back of your truck. Was that the same day you broke your leg? Maybe I shouldn't have fixed it...

Oh wow... I just took it apart, to clean up for my welder... Towards the end of the day we hit some open stuff where I got a chance to pin it... I was feeling like the bike was down on power maybe 20%.. I think this explains it. She was running all backed up, like she had a bad head cold.... Still, my hats off to Kelly for this repair that got me another KILLER day of riding.

I can't say enough about that putty. Go buy some and stick it in your camel back asap.... I know it works well on cases, and radiators as well... I was riding within 20 minutes of the repair, and it held up amazingly. The only downside, it makes your hands smell like dog crap after kneading it for 5 min. When I broke this off the silencer, there were NO air bubbles in it anywhere. I couldn't believe it.

Close enough, it ran :) I remember you saying after the ride you thought it was time for a ring, maybe not. Yep, that stuff rules. Fix lot of other peoples bikes with it.
