• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

I just thought i would let you guys know we have worked with Rekluse for MANY years. I know the owner personally and we have worked on a few husky autoclutches for huskys with them. If any of you want one I'll cut you a real nice deal. Email me at...

Motosportz@gmail.com

and let me know you saw it here on CH and you get a sweet deal.

Thanks,
Kelly

OK, I took the bait on this one and now have the Rekluse Pro on the way for my 08 TE450. And while I was on the phone with Kelly I decided to pick up the radiator guards and disk guards to go along with my existing Motosportz damper, pipe guard and skid plate. Sure is nice having access to all this cool Husky stuff! Problem is...Kelly is designing and building quicker than I can keep up. And now he has those sweet Motoz...maybe I will try them next. Thanks Kelly!:applause:

Gearing

Oh yeah, I almost forgot that I ordered a 13 countershaft, 51 rear (in red of course) and a new chain from Kelly. So, anybody think it will be too low on the 08 TE 450 with this gearing (stock was 13/47)? My hope was to improve the bike in the super tight stuff especially when really muddy with big wet roots on hills. Between the Rekluse Pro and the gearing, I am hoping for good things.

Correct me someone if i am wrong, but i think i would have gone with a 12 counter sprocket instead of going down 4 teeth on the rear. 4 teeth on the rear is like 1 tooth down on the front. Everytime i have gone down A tooth or TWO on the rear, i never really felt the differerence. You would really feel a difference in the 4 on the rear or 1 down on the front though. Plus i think its faster for me to change out the front vise the rear. I was always told to make changes in the front and fine tune in the rear.

Plus i dont want 10 rear sprockets hanging around everyone with one tooth less.

just my opinion though

Like i said, Someone correct me if i am wrong. There are tons of guys on here with WAY more Experiance than me. Especially Kelly. Great knowledge from him and his shop.

1 tooth on the front is actually 3. something on the rear. One thing to look at when getting sprockets is to make sure that the # of links in the chain is long enough to go around both sprockets. Another reason for going bigger on the rear and not one smaller on the front is because your chain will last longer. The tighter of a circle the chain has to go around the faster it wears out, plus its easier to do fine tune gearing through the rear sprocket.

With the stock gearing, that bike goes around 8 mph@ 1,200 rpm's,,,now you probably will be down around 6 mph at that same rpm,add in the clutch and that = no more feet touching the ground to hold yourself up.Start practicing your balancing skills.

Thanks Scooby... I just got the Dirt Wise video by Shane Watts and am planing on getting back to the basics. I never thought to go back and practice each independent technique but it seems to make sense. Guess I could have saved some money in mods if I got the video before I placed the order for the rekluse and gearing.

But then again, half the fun of these bikes is customizing and creating your own personal ride. I'll report back after I change the gearing.

Going 12 on the front is very hard on the chain and chain slider and he just wanted slightly lower gearing.

fairfaxbiker - I think you'll be quite pleased with the autoclutch.

Going down 1 in the front is the same as 3 up in the rear(not down).

Thanks for pointing that out. Thats what i get for not proof reading. I mixed up all my ups and downs:applause:

No problem. I thought I had also mentioned it was probably a typo...sorry for not making that clear:cheers:

Isn't going bigger on the rear harder on the guide though? :)Ken

Not if you have the folding chain guard. I prefer the folding one because of lack of chain drag and I have had less failures with them.

Kelly,
PM'ed you with this but no reply......Do you have Rekluse Pros for the 09's yet? Are the clutch setups the same as 08 models? Gettin an 09 4 stroke and want to order from you rather than a non CH place.

Joe

Yep......gonna jump on the 4 stroke band wagon but keeping the WR144 for "my moments". I will e mail as in no rush but when the bike comes in would like to have it ready to install. I will e mail at the forementioned address.
Thanks
Joe
PS Despite the tough gnarly terrain of the NW, I knew you'd be back with a 125 someday even for fun purposes

I'm having a riot on that thing and am in a big hurry to ride it some more. Just so fun, like a pit bike you can actually ride :D

Joe-

Not to pee on your parade, but if you are looking at a txc250, you will be out of luck with the clutch.

I was set to pick up a Pro for mine earlier this year, and Kelly shot me a nice price on one. I called to ask the guys at Rekluse some questions, and was told the website was incorrect- they didn't have one available...yet. This fall I decided to check into it again, called them back and was told they didn't intend to.

May check into the EFM...Norman has said good things about them in the past.
