    As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

    When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

    Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

    Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

    Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Meter problem

So I went riding today out at McCain Valley (big surprise, huh?) and when I started my bike (07 TE450), the meter came on just as it always has. Sometime, somewhere out on the trail, I noticed that the meter wasn't working. When I got home, I washed the mud off the bike, started it and was drying it off, when I noticed the the front head light was just barely glowing and the parking light wasn't on. A quick check at the rear showed that the tail light wasn't working either. The horn and turn signals operated normally. When I pushed the high beam switch, I got high beam, tail light and meter. Could it be the bar switch causing this problem? The first thing I'm going to do in the morning is check all the wiring and then wing it from there.:excuseme:
 
Hmmmm....I guess nobody else has ever encountered this problem except me.:confused:

Too bad it isn't a carb problem, then probably everybody would have something to say about it.:busted:

try looking for a poor common ground somewhere or a corrded connector in a harness/bar sw. moisture ingress is the enemy.

I found the problem right away and was just waiting to see if anybody responded to the post with the answer.:busted: Low beam was burned out. The instant I swapped for a fresh light bulb, I got the meter back again. I didn't think that the electrical system would be wired as though in series, but apparently so. Burn out headlight, meter don't work.....whatever:excuseme: All good now.
 
I don't have any other bikes where if you burn out a head light filament some other component doesn't work. Everything else I own must be wired in parallel.

I owes yoo nuthin, cuz I found the cause yesditty mornin'.:lol::lol::lol: But if you ever drop by, I'll buy you a brew anyway.:D
