• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

G'day Aussies, I am part of a club located at Meredith, west of Melbourne between Geelong and Ballarat. Our main aim is to cater for the young ones to ride but we will let almost anyone have a go. We ride 3rd Sunday of the month. Check us out at http://www.madmcc.org/ or http://www.facebook.com/#!/groups/142857809376/ Cheap membership and ride day fees as we ride for fun, no racing (well no official racing)

FYI, I have just taken up the presidents role with the club, looking for some new interested members, I have ibeat available at each ride day which is the 3rd weekend of the month, Saturday is a working bee and camping the night, Sunday is the ride day. New members welcome.

Good on ya Kreza, Mate wish we had something like that up here in south east qld. Got the mx track, which wont let the kids ride there jr80's. They come out and ride basic/ fun forestry every other weekend with mates for a couple of hours, which they love. Closest Enduro club is two hours but too exspensive to race. shame its all getting too exspensive( insurance)..

Thanks Jaxsplatt, we are a stand alone not for profit club. We are not affiliated with Motorcycling Australia so we can keep membership costs down and our insurance is manageable

So I'm guessing you've found some private land to ride on? Insurance for the day, individual rider? I'm really interested to follow this up as I would love to get something similer going up here.

We are fairly lucky to lease some crown land that was controlled by a pony club that no longer users it. The cost to lease it still bewilders me, $40 a year. I don't ask any questions, just pay the lease. Our insurance is currently $4000 per year which cover riders and marshals. St.Johns Ambulance is $300 per event. We charge $70 per year membership and $20 per rider per event after signing an idemnity form. Check out our website link in my original post, my contact details are on the website. I could get you some more info at our next ride day after speaking with some of the original members who started the club.

$40 a year... Thats awesome, now to get the insurance companies to drop to that price....
Thanks kreza, i'll drop into local council and find out who looks after our crown land area and have a chin wag.
