  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

lowering a TXC511

Has anyone lowered their txc511 or 449? I'm looking to drop it less than an inch or so. Just wondering if it throws the handling off much or if it even is possible. Thanks!

2011 TXC511

Jay at Hall's lowered my te511 1.5". It handles great. Any decent shop should be able to do it, make sure
They do both ends. It still has plenty of travel for anything except maybe motocross and I don't worry about that.

Check out Kouba Link, I had one on my DRZ400 and I know they sell them for alot of bikes. I installed it myself, it was easy. It threw the geometry way off though. I think I did around 2 inches and it sucked on any type of jump. Basically, if I was airborned at all I was going to be bottoming out, but I weigh 210 without gear so that might have contributed.

Properly lowering suspension requires removal of forks and shock, adding or removing spacers internally.
It's common even among top enduro guys to get a 1" enduro lowering. With the 449/511's CTS Rear linkage,
A link is not going to work, plus it is not the way to go.

Ok thanks for the replies so far. I put a koubalink on my wifes bike and didn't think that would work and I guess it wouldn't.

My Bike is a 2011 TXC511.

James? What did they do to yours and what should I expect for them to charge? They didn't just slide the fork tubes up?

No, price varies , but if you take the suspension to them off the bike and you don't need different springs, probably
300 or less. Sounds like alot but you have a lowered bike that has correct handling and and is a joy to ride.
If it is done when you have service it is cheaper. Moving the forks up or down is ok for changing handling a little,
But is'nt the soulution for lowering.

('13 TE511) Had zipty lower my shock 1" (and revalve). I also have my fork tubes pushed as far up as they'll go without hitting the tire on the fender. Bike handles much better than before.
