• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Looking for the best tire

I am riding a 2010 TE510 and I ride the street to get to the trails I want to ravage. The Waroo's that came stock seem good in the dirt, but they are not lasting long from the pavement. Anyone find a tire that lasts longer than average on pavement yet still is decent in the dirt? Someone mentioned to me to check out Kendra. Any other suggestions?

Thanks.

Sean

Currently $85 a set for DOT Kenda K760's from Rocky Mountain. Your 510 wil eat the back tire (or any tire) if you arent careful. Buy 1 front and 2 rears to get free shipping. For the price you can keep twisting the throttle. BTW, you might be surprised with the gription.

I ride probably 95-98% off-road and currently running Kenda Trakmaster II front and rear on my 510.
Maybe not the absolute top dirt tire for all conditions, but sticks well in most places for me and does nothing scary, plus handles what street riding I do fine.

Not sure what mileage you're expecting......typically if it handles dirt well, it will wear quick on pavement, or at least much quicker than a pure street tire.
I had 1400 miles on the rear when I took it off, which for me and my riding on a 510, I thought was pretty good for a tire focusing more on dirt......and I'm still using the front at 1500.
The rear had maybe 3/8" tread left, which was enough that a nephew took my old tire to replace a near slick on his XR600.

Now while I think that is good tread life, when I breifly used the bike for my little 16 mile round trip commute for work, I quickly figured out I would spend as much on tires as I would save in gas in my Dodge Ram. (oh, well...the truck has a better stereo system anyway....and AC)

What size of a Kenda Trackmaster II are you using on you 510? The ones I see listed dont match the 140/80-18 70R Metzler Karoo that I currently have on the back. I assume that the appropiate Kenda is just slightly different in dimensions??

120/100-18 on the rear, 80/100-21 on the front.

Metzler and couple others, use an European Alpha (?) sizing system. Most other manufacturers we're used to use Metric sizing.

In this case a 120/100-18, 140/80-18, and 5.10-18 are approximately the same size
