• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Looking for some answers. Oh and hello!

I would like to turn my SM 610 into a dirt machine meaning that I need wheels. What wheels would fit my machine and where could I get them. Also my display seems to be frying out so what display would be best for this machine and I got an after market display would it be good for both wheels considering I would like to interchange from dirt to Moto. I've had this bike for a year and absolutely love it. Thanks in advance.

could always just put a set of knobbies on, i've seen it done. the only down side for trail riding is not having the bigger front wheel for geting over logs and junk. then you only have to swap tires when you want a supa moto. could always go with something like an avon distanza if your not gunna be doing any extreme offroading. thats what im doing with my 610sm. still decent grip on pavement and i bit more meat on the tires for some dirt and gravel trips.

Yep, I agree with DVS. I've put a ton of dirt miles on my SM610 with Pirelli MT60's for mild dual-sporty stuff and 17" knobbies for regular stuff. Just spent 2 weeks riding in Utah and would not have wanted any other bike beneath me :)

Spoken like the true woodsie that you are!

I went a little further than that. I picked up a slightly used set F/R of wheels from another SM, then added dirt tires to the extra set with rotors and gear, slam bam and they are changed out. You do lack in the bigger front wheel and harder suspension but you can really overcome anything. And it did cost extra but saves major time.

I also have a quick question if i may add? i've been looking into a set of 80/20 pavement dirt tyres ( diztanzas and the like ) but all the store reviews say they are awsome on pavement aswell as gravel and dirt ( as much as 80/20's can be ) but all the off site comments say they can be sketchy when your trying to pull some mean leans on tarmac. one review said he just about loses it 90% of the time. myself being that ive only riden bikes for mabye 2 years i don't wanna be layin' my new toy over in traffic. does anyone know of a good intermediate tarmac dirt tyre that will keep me on the pavement in a tight corner but still offer a bit of offroad ability. my bridgestone battlax isn't bad for zippin across a field but kinda gets tail happy in the mud. but i dont wanna go to knobbies as i bought at supermoto for a reason.

You will never have the proformance you seek off road form a 80/20 tire! The only way to keep the rear from slipping around off road especially in mud is with a knobby.

its not the mudd im worried about, its loosing traction on the tight corners on the tarmac.

I wouldn't worry about that too much with an 80/20 tire. I have almost draged my pegs on the TE with MT 21 knobs on. If your tires are broken in with a few heat cycles before you get down on them you'll be fine. Your not looking to do a track day are you?

Hahahaha unfortunetly there aren't that many tracks around here but yeah, sounds good thanks for the advise.
