• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

For my 6 year old ! Brought it home Friday... he is not ready to ride the KX 65 yet ( close) ( still on the CRF 50 for a while) but it is sitting in the stable giving him a big incentive to ride harder, faster stronger.

Also first day of first grade tomorrow. (year around school) This was for having a stellar "Top of the class" Academic Kindergarten year.

Now - Good grades/Good Behavior = get's to ride the KX 65 by Christmas. Staying at the Top of the class by Christmas gets him a new Monster Energy Helmet.......

Yes - I believe in bribery and incentives.

Young man looks very happy. I'll bet if you let him, he would have the bike in his bedroom next to his bunk, dreaming of racing. Thanks for sharing.

:thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup:

Great Idea! I'm thinking a little field trip to Mitch's place might be in order soon....

We're going to start doing some work to freshen up the bike over the next few months... I'm open to suggestions if you guys have them!

Bribery and incentives

I agree with bribery and incentives! I have a VERY independent, hard headed 10 yr old girl. She plays softball, volleyball, rides her horse and can handle a 40 mile trailride with us old guys. You could take a 2X4 and still not win a war with her. Take one of the above away and things arfe good= behavior bait as we call it!

Hey, my little buddy (6 years old) & I just did the same thing. I bought him a 2006 KLX 110 fixer-upper. Had it for 3 months at my buddies shop while we gather parts & pieces. I gave it to him & we went & rode at the abandoned golf course (grass track). He had a blast & he knows that unless he is good & does the right thing...No motorcycles, no baseball, no football, etc. Takes me back to the best times of my life, as I'll always relish the days when my Dad would take me & my brother riding on the weekend.

Very Cool Pix BMW!!! By the way... what is all that green stuff that he is riding on????? :D

Looks like a great place to transition into a bigger bike.:thumbsup::thumbsup:

Palmer84One introduced me to a an OHV area off of the 118 HWY Sliverwood lake Area here in SOCAL (desert )that i have already pegged for our first few KX 65 rides later this year... wide open with nothing to hit but the truck.... then we can go back to the track again....

Abandoned golf course! How much fun is that!

I know, how many times have you pasted by one & seen that bunker or that perfectly landscaped jump.

This ones been abandoned for 5 years now & is overgrown, landowner doesn't mind the kids riding. Great place for learning.

Thanks for the props on the pics.
